My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Has your girl ever had just one pup? If so, can you share your experience with me? Thanks so much. P.S. - I just found out Meiahs first litter consists of just one pup. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Never had just one pup but just keep in mind...one pup CAN grow to be larger than if there are several in the uterus. Keep your vet close at hand when it's time for delivery.

When the temp drops I always make a call to the vet to let him know, that way if I call at 3am he'll have head a heads up. (well not "always", only on my first litter and this is my 2nd) I'm saying my prayers for her every night! | |

| I have had two singleton litters,Jewels could not get labor started by herself and had to have a c-section,the pup woudl of passed just fine, was small enough to pass. Josey lost her singleton pup,her temp went down and stayed down 24hrs later no pup and no contractions, took her to the vet and a shot of oxy was given for she was all the way dialated just no contractions to push him out ,and we were sent home ,she started pushing about 10 min from home of course, he was coming breech and his cord tore before he was all the way out had to pull him, worked on the little guy a long time he could not clear up he was so full of mucus. He was not a large size either just coming the wrong way for a first time mom.Always check with your vet before giving any oxy shots sometimes it can help and other times hinder or make things worse. I would not be too concerned if they did it again,as long as labor starts for them. Same for a one pup as a large litter-for one pup the uterus needed a little more to get started and with a big litter too many to get labor started. They are all so different with their labors and deliveries, just like us! Good luck with your mommie.Hopefully she will start on her own,and deliver just fine.Has she had a litter before?Try not to worry to much!!!!Easier said than done though. | pup I have had many single puppy litters...alot depends on the size of the pup and if it is mom's first litter..sometimes a single pup of a first time mom can take a bit longer to whelp and that can cause it's death...but I have had many free whelped from second or third time moms with no problem... I would allow a first time mom to labor for about an hour from the time the water sac appeared, then I would want a section and hope for a better result next time. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Thanks everyone! Yes this is her 1st litter. The pup is very active in there too I love feeling him. I very much appreciate the advice. I will most likely come on and start posting when her temp drops. Hopefully someone will be on line to let me know if everything is coming along as normal. My fingers are crossed. |

| I have had three singeltons two from Desi and one from Sassy. I was very worried about Desi having a singelton puppy and I ask a lot of well know breeders what to expect, they said probably a section as the puppies get so big. Desi is only about 5 pounds. Well she has had to 6 oz puppies by her self but it did take a lot of work from me to get them out. Now Sassy was different she is a very big girl and I thought she would be alright but her puppy grew to be 7 and a half oz. She did have it but it did not live. For me in the future I am going to have them sectioned if there is only one. Tomorrow is Desi's due date and this is her first time having more than one puppy, there are three. I am hoping for the best for her. |

| I'm not a breeder, but my sister's yorkie was the only puppy in her litter. She turned out perfectly fine. |

| I'm not a breeder either but Jaden was the only one in his litter and he was perfectly healthy. proper markings and colorings and was raised and trained to be a show dog but would get too nervous in front of the crowds. |

| muffie had 5 in each litter and she is 7lbs. experiences......you are never prepared especially w the first litter. it is a very very scary experience. each is different in its own way. no two birthings are ever the same but you learn from each one. from my own experience w my babies, i let them do it all on their own w no help from me. i am there but i just get in the way. i am very lucky that i don't need to do anything but be there b/c most do need help during the delivery.
