I have had many single puppy litters...alot depends on the size of the pup and if it is mom's first litter..sometimes a single pup of a first time mom can take a bit longer to whelp and that can cause it's death...but I have had many free whelped from second or third time moms with no problem...
I would allow a first time mom to labor for about an hour from the time the water sac appeared, then I would want a section and hope for a better result next time. |
