I have had two singleton litters,Jewels could not get labor started by herself and had to have a c-section,the pup woudl of passed just fine, was small enough to pass.
Josey lost her singleton pup,her temp went down and stayed down 24hrs later no pup and no contractions, took her to the vet and a shot of oxy was given for she was all the way dialated just no contractions to push him out ,and we were sent home ,she started pushing about 10 min from home of course, he was coming breech and his cord tore before he was all the way out had to pull him, worked on the little guy a long time he could not clear up he was so full of mucus. He was not a large size either just coming the wrong way for a first time mom.Always check with your vet before giving any oxy shots sometimes it can help and other times hinder or make things worse.
I would not be too concerned if they did it again,as long as labor starts for them.
Same for a one pup as a large litter-for one pup the uterus needed a little more to get started and with a big litter too many to get labor started.
They are all so different with their labors and deliveries, just like us!
Good luck with your mommie.Hopefully she will start on her own,and deliver just fine.Has she had a litter before?Try not to worry to much!!!!Easier said than done though.
