| I have a one year old male yorkie that when he was born had to extra stimulation to breathe. It took over 10 minutes to get him to breathe and then he gasped for another 30 minutes before I though he would live. He developed normally, but we noticed that when he was outside he would run and not respond. Thought it was his hearing but he hears noise. He barks at the air like he sees someone standing there when there is no one. He can't remember where the door is to come back inside. I have to go get him and tote him in. He some time cannot remember how to get out of his crate. I have to drag him out. House training has been impossible so he is either outside or in his crate. He also holds his tounge out like it is too big for his mouth. He is very pretty, baby doll face and huge eyes but has no interest in females. I believe he was brain damaged due to the lack of oxygen at birth. |

| It does sound like a touch of brain damage...fortunately with our dogs it only makes them a bit more loveable..I had a male who was born after I went to bed..according the xray she had 3, but number 4 was hiding. Anyway, I woke to a restless mom, so I looked in the bed and puppy was still enclosed in the sac..I opened it up and took awhile for him to start breathing...he lived to be 14 and was a healthy boy, but the brain damage was apparent. He would walk into the closet or bathroom and cry for someone to come and find him. He acted like a baby all his life, but he was so sweet, it wasn't a problem. |

| I have 3 yorkies and by no means are mine stupid 1 of them can even understand when we spell certain things, thats why we started spelling out certain things for she would get upset or excited if I said I'm leaving, got to get the boys ,vacum, bath etc 1 smart little cookie. The other two are smart also, our male is more laid back than the 2 girls, but they are kinda like kids they all are different in personallity, smartness, prettiness etc, you just have to love and accept them for the little dog or person they are or will grow up to be, and we as parents are there to guide and teach them .Sorry to hear about your little guy. | When looking for a yorkie I wanted a female because of the experience that I have had with dogs. The bitches just seemed to be smarter than the males. Mya has not disappointed us. At 10 weeks she not only fetched but would bring the toy you asked for. We were playing with her last night throwing 2 toys out and told to bring her "happy ball" (it is a ball that lights up with a happy face on it) she brought back that ball and did not pick up her little soccar ball. She catches on really fast to learning new commands. I feel really lucky to have a dog that listens so well. Our 13 year old Pom has never been too bright, but by hanging around other dogs he has learned from them rather than from us. He just learned to "drop it" after years of trying to teach him. I believe he FINALLY caught on by watching us train Mya. Comic has never fetched. We learned (when his hip tendon snapped two years ago) that he was born with out a hip socket on one side. That could explain that he would rather have a toy fly by him rather than to jump up and catch it or chase after it. It was kinda funny when you would toss Comic a treat and it would hit him between the eyes. No worries it was only soft cheese or bits of chicken.....hahahaha Regards, cyn Driving the grammatically correct insane, one posting at a time. |

| I have two dogs, and I don't think either of them are stupid. But of the two, Pookie is more beautiful, and Boo Boo is more affectionate. |
