When looking for a yorkie I wanted a female because of the experience that I have had with dogs. The bitches just seemed to be smarter than the males.
Mya has not disappointed us. At 10 weeks she not only fetched but would bring the toy you asked for. We were playing with her last night throwing 2 toys out and told to bring her "happy ball" (it is a ball that lights up with a happy face on it) she brought back that ball and did not pick up her little soccar ball. She catches on really fast to learning new commands. I feel really lucky to have a dog that listens so well.
Our 13 year old Pom has never been too bright, but by hanging around other dogs he has learned from them rather than from us. He just learned to "drop it" after years of trying to teach him. I believe he FINALLY caught on by watching us train Mya. Comic has never fetched. We learned (when his hip tendon snapped two years ago) that he was born with out a hip socket on one side. That could explain that he would rather have a toy fly by him rather than to jump up and catch it or chase after it. It was kinda funny when you would toss Comic a treat and it would hit him between the eyes. No worries it was only soft cheese or bits of chicken.....hahahaha Regards,
