Why would you even want to go back to a breeder that is either dishonest or stupid? Why don't you go on petfinders and look around. Fill out an application at one of the Yorkie Rescues. Let Tucker help pick out his sister. They are the best judge of character anyway.

As far as giving you a discount on the next "large" puppy... that would be up to her. I know I would feel obligated to do something to even things up a bit if I had sold a dog that had turned out far from standard, but she won't be legally obligated to discount the next one. It can't hurt to ask though. I am glad Tucker turned out to be such a great pet!

. It is important to note that the Yorkshire Terrier up until the 1930?s usually weighed approximately 30 pounds, not the 3 to 7 pounds it does today. [/QUOTE] First of all this is 2007 and the 21st century, I don't want a dog w/standards from the 1800's to the 1930's and 19th century on top of that! If a bitch has a throw back from THAT far back then she needs a refund PERIOD!

why would you she have shown you his father and not his mother? the mother must be quite large with having a litter of 7. she's obviously breeding a large female, all good breeders let you see both of the parents especially the mother. she knows exactly what she's breeding and it is not for standard it's for profit! i'm sorry to hear that you have go through this she should make it right for you.

Good luck. You deserve a refund. If she does not send it, you should take any steps necessary to be sure that she does not have the opportunity to do this to someone else. Could you share the name of the breeder? Others need to know to stay away.

Good luck with getting that partial refund. I would pursue this, if only on principle alone. What may help is having a legal notice drafted, informing her that if she does not send you a refund by a certain date, you will seek legal action. People sometimes take the "real" mail more seriously than email. I would also like to know the name of the breeder. I live in Florida and want to make sure to stay away from her when I get my second yorkie.

My mother-in-law had almost the same problem....she bought a "yorkie" from a breeder here in Indiana, which the breeder told her that he was going to be a bigger yorkie and that was ok with her. He is 15lbs and looks nothing like a yorkie. I've told her from the begining (she brought him home when he was 6 weeks old!!! RED FLAG) that I thought he was mixed with somthing else, but she insists that he is a yorkie (you know since he has AKC papers) She has even had another breeder who has seen her dog say that he wasn't a yorkie but a silky terrier! Anyway she loves the dog and wouldn't trade him for anything. My point being, if you get a refund Great!, but if you don't at least you have a pet you love dearly. And do as much as you can to report her and let other potiential buyers beware. P.S. If you're looking for him a friend, you might look into silky terriers. I don't know much about the breed but they sure do look a lot similar to yorkies, and they're bigger. Maybe someone who knows more can further comment.

I did a search for yorkie on petfinder. Here's the link: http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi It looks like there is a yorkie-specific rescue in Davey, Fl.

If she sold you Tucker with AKC registration I would go to the AKC page & make a complaint. A local breeder here had a 6lb mom & 4 lb dad. He discounted a pup as pet because he expected it would be around 12lbs, just a freak thing I guess. Or maybe one or the other had a bigger dog in its gene pull. ??? I know what you mean about being able to rough them up, my girl is at the low end of the standards & I am constantly reminding myself to be more gentle with her, takes some of the fun out of it. Well Good Luck

You might call her & tell her that if any one else has had this issue & are not happy w/there dog you are interested in it, if they would like to find it a good home, but I wouldnt give her another dime.
