| Panicking is not an option that will help her or you get through this. Your nerves will make hers worse and despite what your vet said..I think you ought to at least have a muzzle on hand. She is going to be very unhappy anyway and at least the person trying to assist her won't need sutures. I would also try to locate someone experienced that can help you in case your vet is not available...it never hurts to have back up help.

that I would take her in to the vet in the morning and have him check her and if she is in labor, ask if I could leave her there. Of course, if they don't have round the clock attendants, and she hadn't delivered before they closed, I would go back & get her.

You asked for help/advice and that is what you got. From very experienced breeders. You just have to read their posts to know how concerned they are for your little girl, their concern over your inexperience and panic and ability to handle this stressful situation and the care she is getting. I hope your little girl and her puppies do great.

Come on Yorkie Talk members - she has taken the dog to a vet, she did find this site in plenty of time to get answers (this isn't her first post, and hopefully she does have 2 weeks to gain more knowledge), she did take the Mom to the vet and have an xray done. I believe her when she says the vet thinks the Mom can deliver alone and he is on call for a C-section, if needed. As many times as I have whelped puppies, I still get a bit nervous and reread information with each and every pregnancy. I too think the muzzle might make the dog more nervous. Her instincts will tell her she needs her mouth for breaking the sack, stimulating and cleaning, and cutting the cords. I would have leather gloves (thin, but strong) available. (By the way, I've never seen a muzzle so I am unsure of what movement they still have). I know you are all just concerned because I've been around a while and know you all to be very good hearted people, but this member only hears your criticism of her, not your love for her dog and unborn puppies.

I have heard from her and the dog has not went into labor. Hopefully, she will find the strength to post again and get advice from all the experts on this forum and, hopefully, they can provide helpful information for the Mom without attacking the owner.
