| ![]() You are very right...never, never do a puppy pick back..but you must know, sometimes people will not listen and that is what they insisted on. AND soemtimes the fee was NO more then $300/350 at the time..always pay your money and keep all the litter for yourself. If I was offered pick of the litter, I would have been silly not to take it..if there were no pups and that never happened, but if it did, then of course I would not get a puppy either...again NEVER give away your best puppy!!! ..never give any puppy IMO. I would like to take a poll and hear from the breeders who do a minium of 24 stud services yearly, BUT only ask for payment if the breeding produces a litter? A breeder who has perhaps a few per year might be able to make more lax rules for the services. I have no idea how someone like Betty Anne Durrers keeps up..she lives 2 hrs from the airport..she must have help!! LOL Best wishes.. PS..my studs had their teeth cleaned by the vet every 6 months..very important for a stud dog..effects sperm count to have bacteria in the gums and teeth. ..you know how much that runs on 4 studs..I am not justifly my practices of charging..I have not had a complaint..I had to turn far too many away..sometimes I needed a break.. I, also did the tails and decalws..referred buyers to my stud clients, no one had to advertize...I was fair to my clients and they were very generous to me. | ![]() I was just recently alerted to the fact that this information was posted about me and my dealings with Pauldo!! If the other stories this woman posts have as much credibility as the story she wrote about me, no one should believe anything she writes. I spent quite a bit of time trying to educate her about Yorkies and the breeding/whelping process. I should have talked to her more about ethics. By the time she asked if she could use Duffy, I had already decided that I did not want to enter into a contract with her. There could only be trouble ahead. What actually happened was that even though Duffy was unproven at the time, we were willing to offer a guaranteed pregnancy and live birth or there would be a repeat breeding. That was before we had more dealings with this woman and had decided that it would be foolish to enter into any kind of deal with her. I did say that the stud fee would have been $500. She found a lesser dog for a lesser stud fee so thought that I should give her the same deal as the other owner. I invited her to use the other dog. She did speak to my husband whom she offended and who hung up on her. She has been known to offend vets to the point where they have also hung up on her. It is impossible to explain how frustrating this woman is. For those of you who are judging me and my husband as rude, please don't make comments about a situation until you hear both sides of the story. We have been involved in with yorkies for close to 30 years. We have sold many pups and let dogs out to stud many times. This woman is the only person who has ever found us to be difficult to deal with or has said nasty things about us. I am beginning to doubt many of her other horror stories. Have any of you begun to wonder why all of these "very bad" people keep preying on her? Another issue is this Continental KC male that she has. This is now her breeding male. I only hope that she is ethical enough to represent him for what he and his offspring are. I am not holding my breath. |

![]() Wow Bicey -- this happened so long ago I'm surprised you even remember the incident -- it's still clear in my mind. You and your husband never told me about the repeat breeding initially or else I would have been O.K. with the whole thing. It was only after your husband hung up on me and I phoned to apologize that you told me about the repeat breeding. I told you I had made other arrangements by then but asked if I could use you another time -- you sounded abrupt, and cold on the phone and wouldn't make a committment. Your idea "of spending quite a bit of time educating me" about breeding is puzzling. We spent less than an hour together -- me admiring your yorkies and you explaining how the process would go (I leave my female at your house....) -- I have had met 3 good mentors since dealing with you who have truly been warm, and generous with their advice about choosing yorkies for breeding, successful breeding, whelping and also encouraging me to continue on in this difficult and not always easy pursuit of breeding quality yorkies. Please don't insult other people's studs -- you don't even know whose stud I used 3 years ago and I think it is quite arrogant to assume that although I preferred yours, the other stud was a "lesser dog". He was also a beautiful little yorkie. I also don't have a clue what you're talking about, about about "vets" hanging up on me. I have a wonderful relationship with my vet -- and have been using the same vet since my very first pet???????? I did use a vet's stud, and it also was not a pleasant experience, but found out too late from other people that they also had problems with him. I have always been told by friends, relatives, and work collegues that I am "too nice to people" -- maybe that's why I'm "always being preyed on". I was very polite with you and your husband and remember being shocked at how easily he became offended when I asked questions about whether Duffy was a proven stud. For you to describe me as frustrating makes me think you have me confused with someone else you dealt with 3 years ago. If not, then I'm sorry that my questions frustrated you so much. Also to set your accusations staight, I sold my Continental Kennel Club male yorkie to someone as a pet (they have the whole story) -- the original breeder felt bad about the confusion and problems she caused me and refunded a portion of his price-- I still lost $1000 -- but don't care, he went to a really good home. I have another beautiful little yorkie male from the states now that is AKC registered and comes from champion lines and a long line of tinies. He is almost a year old and ready to try out his stud role. I also have two new females since we met that are also from the states and from champion lines and are AKC. By the way Bicey, one of the people whose stud I used, told me you are about to use their stud and she is using Duffy. If you ask her about me, I think she will inform you that I was a very easy going, nice person to deal with. Even paid her more $ for stud services than she asked for b/c I really appreciated her help!!! Everything I wrote about you was true and was about how you made me feel -- so perhaps instead of trying to acuse me of lying, you should reflect on how you deal with other people and how you and your husband ultimately come across to others. As for me trying to change my "frustrating" questioning personality, I'm not sure that that's a positive thing. I've always been one to ask questions, and as I tell the elementary students that I teach, "There is never a stupid question... and a good way to learn is to ask questions, as many times as you have to until you get it....". We obviously both got off to a bad start, and I am genuinely (to this day) sorry about that. I have never repeated our situation to anyone that lives in the city and have only spoken highly of the beautiful yorkie dogs that you breed. I have found myself using yorkietalk.com to discuss and bounce my disappointing experiences in breeding with other members, but often forget to write about all the wonderful experiences I have had along the way.

![]() True... but if you were in Bicey's shoes or mine and statements were made about you in an open forum, I think you too would want others to hear your side. But yes, I'm o.k. with having discussions through p.m.'s

![]() The fact that this Bicey person is speaking up after three years is kinda funny. I don't know the whole situation, I wasn't there, so I'm not going to take sides. But seriously, this did make for a good read. Not only was it interesting, but very informative for me as well. I will be looking for a stud within these next few months, and this really helped me out as to what to look for and forward to. Thanks! Tara

![]() It does look kind of weird from the outside! I only replied after all of these years because I had someone tell me what was posted about me. Mine was just a reactionary comment that probably didn't need to be posted. Don't think that you have a tough time ahead with getting a stud. We have used other people's studs and others have used ours without a problem over the years. We have actually formed some very nice friendships with other Yorkie people as a result of these dealings. A great thing came as a result of this unfortuante postings. I have been contacted by other Yorkie people in my area and look forward to positive dealings with them in the future. There always is a silver lining.
