| What to do? I have a litter of going on 7wk old yorkies. The lady that owns the male that was bred to my female won't give me the information I need to register the puppies. What should I do? My female is ACA registered and the male is AKC registered. I told her I would pay to duel register her male ACA but I need a copy of his registration to mail along with the money. She told me she lost his registration papers and would send off for new one. That was at the time of breeding. I just got off the phone with her and she now tells me AKC lost her request and she was sending them a new one. So now it will be at least 2wks before his AKC papers are back. I'm not sure how long it will take to register the litter ACA since I have to register him too. I am thinking it will be at least another month before I can register the litter. I have people wanting to back out of the sale of puppies because I don't have the papers yet. Thanks for letting me vent. Any advise? |

| papers The breeder does not need the papers to register the litter..all she needs is the AKC number..that can be obtained by phone..done it many times myself for stud clients who have lost their females AKC papers... I would sell the pups without papers, they are unimportant..infact many people who buy AKC from me next want papers.. and next time look for an ACA stud if you can find one. |

| ACA will not duel register the dog without copy of his papers. I have people who want papers on their dogs. This male was suppose to already be aca registerd. I do not know how to register the pups if the male isn't registered with aca. I have his akc registration # but it does no good without the copy of the papers. |

| I would just sell them without papers and then when and IF you do get the papes you could give them to the new owners then; IF they want them. Most people buying a pet just want a healthy puppy and don't care about the papers. Most owners don't even send them in. |

| I've had the same thing happen to me. I never did get the AKC number in the end...... If I ever use a stud again, I will want a copy right before the breeding takes place. |

| I have this dogs AKC # but I do not have the ACA # because she told me he was registered with ACA but in fact he isn't. My female is only registered with ACA because the breeder I bought her from only gave me her ACA papers and then wanted another 1000.00 for the AKC. I had already paid over 1000.00 and was not willing to give another. I have all of my pups sold but all of the people that I have sold the pups to want papers. The pups are not ready to go to their new homes yet but I don't think I'm going to have the papers back by the time they are ready. People don't trust that they'll get papers after the fact so I have 2 people that are wanting to back out of buying the pups because I don't have papers on them yet. I have already went down on my prices because I don't have the papers. |

I personally have purchased two puppies that were AKC registered but the breeders did NOT have the papers in hand. I trusted them to send them when they arrived. Of course, the situation is different from yours. Friend who breeds yorkies had a problem with their female's registration...because AKC kept telling them her registration number had already been assigned else where....any way since they were having this fight with AKC and couldn't get the litter registered, they sold the pups for much less than they sell them with papers. Good luck

| The male does not have to be registered with ACA to register the litter (if the mom is ACA).... Since you said you have the AKC # for the male put that on the litter registration application. I've done this before with my Rocky before I had him dual-registered (now he is both AKC and ACA). You should not have a problem.

| My pups never leave here with 'papers' other than their contract with guarantee. The registration doesn't go to them until I recieve a copy of the vet cert for spay/neuter done at 6 months. That will give you plenty of time to get a registration to them.
