| I am so sorry for your loss. Try distracting MaeMae (cute name) with treats or something.... or take her for a walk. I think you should try to eliminate/wash anything that has the scent of the puppies. She should calm down in a few days.

| I'm not a breeder, but it sounds to me like she doesn't realize that her pups are dead. I would put them back in the whelping box and let her be with them for awhile. She'll figure out that something's not right. I know that it sounds gross, but she doesn't understand what's going on.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | sorry About eight years ago my pitbull female had one pup that died during the delivery. I left the pup with her for a bit so she could realize that something was wrong. When she gave me the ok...allowed me to get near the pup and she moved herself away I knew she was ok to go on. She was very much down in the dumps for about two weeks after. I guess her version of dealing with death and a doggie form of PPD. I think it's better to put the pups back and let her have her time. If you just move them like that she will go bonkers looking for them. Anyhow....hope that helps. Sorry for your loss.

I agree with Joanne wash anything that would have the scent of the pups on it..then let her search the room to see they are not there. When a female I have loss her pup she did the same thing (it broke my heart to see her search and whine for her pup) but after a few days she was fine. Just try to keep her busy...Hugs to you both. | |

Another friend used a baby kitten. The nursing helped the mother dog feel it was her baby. first they rubbed the baby kitten on the mother then placed her in the bedding and the mother dog immediately had the baby nursing. I pray your baby heals and feel better soon. Another thought...my yorkie has never had babies but she thinks the mechanical FUR REAL puppies you get in the toy area at walmart that act real and are tiny are her babies...she tries to nurse them all the time. It is odd but cute. they sell them either by individual puppies that move some and blink and bark or by twins that seem to do the same and even react to touch and respond to each other. I hope this is a little helpful.

| I am so sorry. I Know how heartbroken you must be. I would let her have them back. She will realize that they are gone but she needs to come to that conclusion on her own. You did everything you could and I"m proud of you and I"m sure everyone else on here is as well..
