Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Keeping breeding pair apart during 1st heat This is a serious question. Beyond the obvious basics--belly bands, diapers, separate crates--whatelse do you do, to avoid a teenage pregnancy ? |

| Seperate rooms are even better if you can do it....Seperate crating is key, belly and bands and diapers don't prevent anything, nor do gates or ex-pens that they've never climbed before...and never, ever have them out of the crates at the same time. buy ear plugs for the whining. good luck.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | keeping pair apart 1st heat.... How long/many days does this go on? I've heard 5-7; I've heard 21 days. Can I get the female a shot of deprovera (sp?) for 3 months worth of birth control? Anyone have a vacation home I can escape with my female??? |

| I would keep them apart from the beginning to the end..about 3 weeks...that is why I had several doggie rooms and playyards..someone was always "coming or going"... |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | we're working on the separate doggie room. And the office will be a separation zone too. I told the husband to take the "boys" fishing, camping or something. I would do a spa weekend with the girls but not for 3 weeks. |

| I've heard that dogs can and have bred through a fence (my vet confirmed that this can happen) so I beleive it. I wouldn't just rely on a crate. I would crate but put in seperate rooms behind a closed door. This is the very reason I used a stud on my girls instead of owning my own. I didn't want to have to pen anyone up. But i've decided that I want to own my own stud so I'm going to have to do the same.
