Jendas Yorkies Has anybody heard of or bought from this breeder before? http://www.jendasyorkies.com/ :D |
OMG, did you check out the boys pedigrees(i couldn't open the girls)? Tons of Champions. I have never gotten a puppy from them. I liked how they had the boys and girls listed and on the puppy page had who the parents were. I wonder what the prices are. those are really impressive pedigrees. |
Beautiful dogs! It looks like she is selling the pups to show homes. |
I don't recognize the kennel. Pups are at least 12 weeks old which is good not too young to go to a new home. If you are looking for a pet, likley would be okay but check on any guarantees on the pup. Yes the pedigree is reasonably impressive but that doesn't mean these puppies are show quality. Show quality cannot be determined in Yorkies until at least 6 months, older is better. There are many important things to consider in determining a show quality that in Yorkies, can change as they get older. Some things that you won't know for sure until closer to a year are colour ie will it stay a steel blue/tan or go light? and size ie too big or too small. Often coat type can't be determined until 4- 6 months of age to be certain. In my own dogs, I can do a wonderful breeding, many many champions in the pedigree. There can be say 3 pups. One may be show quality, one could be going too light, the other too big, or bad earset, or not a good topline if you get the idea of what I am talking about. All three pups are the same litter, same pedigree. The one that looks like it could be show qualilty I would hold back until it is much older, at least 6 months. As the other two mature to over 3 months, I watch them and when I see something that says, no this is not a show quality, not something I want in my breeding program or anyone else's, those are sold for pet, either already neuter/spayed or under nonbreeding neuter/spay contracts. |
Lorraine, you are so right. I had a little male from the first litter that I adored. I kept him as a pet and I swear, I worshipped the ground he walked on. Pat and I repeated that same breeding 4 more times and never got another Jesse. Those pics that say" This is how the puppies from the last litter looked" are worthless in an ad.. Pedigrees often do not mean diddly-squat but that does not affect the quality of the puppy as a pet.. |
When you are looking at websites you want to see puppies perhaps sold before and more important the adults. Puppies are cute but what will they look like full grown? Is this a reasonably good Yorkie even ones for pet? It has taken a while for me to establish my line. I have a certain type that I breed for and keep in my show dogs. The ones I have sold for pet, I am told by their owners, when they run into someone else with one of my dogs can look at it and will ask them if theirs came from me as they recognize it is very similar to theirs that they got from me. This is true of many show breeders for those they have sold for pet. they are still pet quality but very nice pet quality, look like Yorkies with no doubt that they are purebred registered. Over the years I think my puppies I have sold for pet have improved in type along with the show dogs I have kept of my breeding. I learned that from a show breeder, it isn't just your show dogs you want to focus on, also see how the ones are turning out that you sold for pet. When I look for other bloodlines to bring into mine, I look for similar type and find it. I like to see the prospective stud I want to use, especially see it in the rings so I can see for myself movement animation etc. I compare what this stud has to offer to what I have and want to improve. Pedigree on that stud is important and I also want to know the dogs that make up that pedigree. If the stud has been used for breeding before, then it is really important for me to see what he has produced with different bitches. If the stud isn't local, I like to ask a friend that has seen it what they think of it. With that mating I am hoping for a show quality. Doesn't always work out that way and what I have that isn't show quality again are exceptional pets. And no, I don't charge more because there are champions in the pedigree. I wouldn't be breeding them at all if there weren't champions there. The only time the price is higher is when I have a known show dog I am selling to a known show home and have been convinced that I can trust them with my line and the lines that established my kennel name. Otherwise they are sold for pet either already spay/neutered or with non breeding contracts if I decide to trust the buyer who is local anyway, and sold for pet prices. |
thank you so much for all the info :) |
Jendas yorkies If you're still interested, I've purchased 3 dogs from Jendas yorkies. The breeders name is Mary Lou and I've found her to be trustworthy and very helpful. I'm just starting a dog that I got from her and after 3 matches feel that he's very promising. I've bought a show prospect bitch that looks great so far and my pet quality dog (my first yorkie) sold me on the breed. She's got beautiful animals so check it out! Tami (Ladyhawk Yorkies) |
I made the error in judgement of buying a dog from Jendas. The breeder's name is Jennifer. I won't add her last name but I sent a wire for payment to her bank account, not any Mary Lou. It's amazing how so many people just joined to hype this breeder, TRY AT LEAST TO GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT! Jessica |
Jendas prettypuppypink, I'm sorry if you had a bad experience with Jennifer. My facts are correct as I know them. Jennifer is Mary Lou's daughter. She does the bulk of the showing and assists her mother with the breeding. As I said I've purchased 3 dogs from her, one of which I'm presently showing and have found them to be sound and of excellent temperment. Mary Lou herself has been helpful and honest with me. I don't know the circumstances behind your bad experience with them but my own has been good and that was what you asked for, my experience. If I can help you rectify your bad experience let me know. :) :) |
My boy, Choco latte, is from Mary Lou, I have had him since early May. I had a good exper w/her and I would recommend her to anyone who asked for a breeder in FL. She answered all my questions and I send her an email and new pics every month or two. Here are pics of him when I first got him to a pic w/i the last month. |

I think you are very rude since you know nothing about my experience. It was heartbreaking for me. I stated that I wouldn't suggest anyone purchase a puppy from her because of my very bad experience, isn't that what others do here, name breeders that are less then honorable within their experience? I haven't told the facts as this was done privately. You have no idea the hardships I went through due to buying this dog. I'm through with this. I have no need to defend myself. I am the victim of this breeder. I wouldn't wish this dog on anyone, even you! I'm finished with this, all of you go buy her dogs. It will be the last time I ever warn anyone about a bad breeder experience. Jessica |

Let me explain my post because there is some confusion...I told her that she was rude to post about new people and to get there facts right all in caps....thats what I meant & I told her that in my last post...it had nothing to do with her experience with the breeder... |

Did you read what I posted I didn't say anything about the breeder good or bad...I said it about this comment she made about new people posting...and she but it all in caps....jeez |
Guys, Kim (Peanut) has the biggest heart in the world! She doesn't know the breeder, and that was not her point. Her point was that there was some "Newbie" bashin' going on here without merit! We don't know that those folks came on here with alternative or impure intentions, and until we do, we need not run them off by offending them. In addition, I think that there is a rule about offending others in the threads. I think that this thread needs to be locked. |
Newbie here! I think I'm the newby in question. I did feel that I got yelled at. I came on board because I was curious. I added my submission when I saw the name Jenda because someone was asking if anyone had experience with the breeder and I do. I'd want someone to tell me the positive and the negative experiences if I had inquired. I know prettypuppypink was upset but I didn't deserve to get blasted when I wasn't even commenting on her post. It's interesting about Larry Smith and Lashire, my Connor 's mother is a lashire bitch. He's a doll (Connor that is) :( :( |
Jessica -- I do not know you or Jennifer, or Mary Lou, so maybe I can offer a non-biased opinion. I know everyone has one and mine won't get you a cup of coffee without a dollar... but here goes anyway. I think that it is obvious breeders put a lot of their life and soul into their programs. If a person wants to criticize them on a public forum, they had better be very specific. You say it was all in private -- but this is not private at all where you are bad-mouthing her. If you feel strongly enough about your experience to actually try to ruin her reputation -- a reputation that obviously is more than one generation in the making -- then you should not speak in generalities. You need to say something like "I would not buy from her again because of : " then say the specific grievance you had, if you tried resolution with them, and what offers were made. Then she has the right to come back and say her piece about what she tried to satisfy the customer (you). Then people can make up their own minds. Right now, what sticks in people's minds is that someone had a terrible experience with this kennel and people should stay away. That is hardly fair to a family that has put so much into breeding Yorkies. Either put it on the line, or do not make a general disparaging comment -- my opinion only. Of course you have every right to post your bad experience but it should be specific not something like "I wouldn't wish this dog on anyone, even you!" I feel sorry for you and the dog but I am not going to rush to judgement against anyone without more of a story than that. You should turn it around and ask yourself how you would feel if someone posted not to have any dealings with you because they had a bad experience with you. Period -- no explanation just a vague admonishment not to trust you. I would think it would make you angry and others would not take it seriously. I hope my posting does not make you angry but instead think of the big picture. |
Ladyhawk and Skittles momma, I would love to see more pics of your babies from Jen at Ajenda yorkies. I also have 2 beautiful, sweet puppies from them that I love to death. My little girl looks alot like yours so was wondering if they were littermates? And I also wanted to say for the others that are confused still that Mary Lou is Jens mom and not related to Fonda as suggestested she may be. |
