| ![]() I have had a blue so I can say I could tell the difference, they are silver or greyish blue when they are born. Chocolates are more of a brown with the liver colored nose. |

| ![]() It's very rare to have red ones, They say it's an abnormality, but I think they are adorable! I have been looking for one around here and have yet to find one. The one that I seen had it all the baby doll face, tiny, and red! But the people were asking way too much for her. So my search goes on. I will find my red yorkie! She may not be born yet but I know I will find her! I wish we could talk, but you live so far. Are you keeping them?

| ![]() For images, PM red98vette. She has some pictures of some blues that she can post for Whispersmom. With any questions, PM Whispersmom. She's a wealth of information, and very kind about sharing it! You might also use the YT search feature as I know there have been other threads about both chocolates and blues.

| ![]() I am attaching a link the has the best article I have come accross about the blue/red yorkshire terriers.. It comes from the Goldenray site.. http://members.aol.com/CYorkie/Genet...Chocolate.html Once you read the link in the attachment it is pretty clear the yorkies that throw this gene should not be breed again.. You know I respect your opinion and I mean no offense with this post but as the owner of a red and white parti-colored yorkie I must respectfully give my .02 cents. While it may be the opinion of some breeders that those with the recessive genes for off colors should not be bred to "protect" the breed.....that opinion is not shared by all, and some very reputable breeders breed "for" these colors because they are beautiful. This is in fact how the Biewer was developed. The tri-colors showed up in a litter and instead of killing the puppies as the purist breeders would have done in the name of "protecting" the breed, Mr. Biewer recognized their great beauty and decided to start a new breed or category of breed depending on who you talk you. I am not sure what they think they are "protecting" the breed from, but just because the YTCA and the AKC dog clubs do not like them does not mean they are not good dogs and worthy of breeding. I am opposed to any breed standard that discriminates unfairly. My Chai came from two traditionally colored black and tan parents and her breeder is extremely reputable. | |

| ![]() I seen a blue yorkie from a lady in Ohio. It turned out that he had allot of problems and was loosing his hair. But the dog is full grown now and just looks a little rough. He lost the hair on his tail and paws. Are you breeding this or did you see it from someone else? |

| ![]() I am sorry that I lost all of the pics of a friend's blue born. I do, however, have Jillian's adult pic in my album. I have a choc male now and have pics of him but not as a newborn. My understanding is that Cher is gonna update the info in her article as there havebeen some changes in what we know about blue-borns. They used to call them Fatal Blue Genes but not all of these puppies die the horrible deaths we thought they did,. It is fairly easy to tell a real blue from a choc at birth. But, the texture of their coats are very similar. Their coats can be coarse and the hair that would normally be blue or black as adults does not grow, is dull, coarse like 300 grade steel wool, ears are hairless and have to be protected with sunscreen and body. The tan on normal colors is evident often in the off colors and will grow and need to be groomed.. The puppy in the pic that died looks like a choc to me, going by the liver nose and the brownish coat. I don't know if this helps or if you want to PM me for more info, I would be happy to answer any questions I can. I now have parti-marked AKC male and Biewers..so I have a lovabe bunch of misfits.. |
