Has Anyone seen this before???? 2 Attachment(s) Here is a picture of 2 newborns. Off color...I never seen this before in color of yorkies puppies. someone said that one would be a red. is that correct???? Gina |
It sure looks like it to me....or a Chocolate yorkie.... boy - those babies were just born werent they ? are these your puppies ? Julz a member here has gorgeous red yorkies -you can see her pictures in her album here - http://www.yorkietalk.com/gallery/sh...00&ppuser=3086 |
Yorkie puppies are born black as far as I know. Some people on yt have talked about chocolate but it is not the standard. I was wondering too; is that your pup?? |
I've never seen that before. Can't wait to see how she /he colors up. One of the parents has a recessed gene. Have you bred the 2 before? Pretty color. Any white on the chest? :) |
I looked at the pix of the red? pups. Although cute, they look nothing like a Yorkie. :dog: |
I see you are from Ohio. Did you buy either of the parents from a gal in North Benton by the name of Terry Wiley. It you did pm me. |
These were Abbeys pups with her last litter. The off color one was only 1.5oz. Didn't make is. was weak. lived only 2wks. she had 5 in this litter. The stud that I used was a girlfriend of mine up in Columbus. |
That puppy looked chocclate to me and I heard that there is usually something wrong with them. Sorry that she didn't make it, but as heartless as this might sound, you are probably better off, as it could have cost you a lot of money with health bills.. Hopa all the rest are healthy!! |
Yes...the pup is what you call Chocolate yorkie.... I don't think a chocolate has as many health problem as a blue born pup. Off YTCA An Important Note About Color in Yorkshire Terriers . The most distinctive characteristic of an adult Yorkshire Terrier is its long blue and tan silk coat. A puppy is born black and tan, but the only recognized colors for adults when registering with AKC are blue and gold, blue and tan, black and gold, or black and tan. . The AKC Breed Standard and YTCA Code of Ethics do not recognize any other color dogs than noted above. This includes all gold, born blue, liver (also known as red or chocolate), and parti-colors. One of the reasons for avoiding breeding "off-colored" Yorkies is because it could be a genetic defect that may affect the dog's health. Some health problems can include, but aren't limited to, severe skin problems, allergies, total hair loss and in some cases long-term illness and/or death. . A responsible breeder will not intentionally breed for undesirable traits. On very rare occasions, a breeder will have a puppy born with a color anomaly. That puppy should undergo careful health screenings before being placed in a spay/neuter (non-breeding) home. A breeder should certainly never promote these deviations as being desirable or rare. . There are many issues that potential Yorkie owners need to study before purchasing their dog. We hope you will read the helpful information at this website and make an informed decision. It could very possibly save you aggravation, disappointment and expense. We wish you the best of luck in your pursuit of a happy, healthyYorkshire Terrier. |
