| centralnewyorkie That is exactly my point. So, I should just ask for my money back, minus what she spent on the first set of shots and walk away?

You could ask, but you might not get it back. If nothing else, chock this up as an expensive lesson learned the hard way. | |

| When you purcahse a puppy from a reputable breeder, the pup should have all age appropiate vet care done..at the breeders expense, not the buyers. If you buy a 9 week old, it should have had one set of shots (I start at 8 wks) worm check, and worming if needed, vet check etc...if you buy a 12 or 16 week old the same applies. At 16 weeks the pup should have all shots, plus rabies, heartworm prevention started..best wishes |

| Joy, No one can tell you what you should do, but the fact that you are already not comfortable is a big red flag. Finding a good breeder takes time and effort but it is always worth it. |

| I told her that I wanted my money back minus the amount she paid for the first shots. I am so upset, but I know that this is best. I am afraid she won't give me the 350.00 I already paid her. She offered one time, when I was having doubts, but just now, she said, any money you gave me is nonrefundable. I told her, just this week you said it was. Then she said, it isn't if you are being B***** about it. That shows me that I made the right decision. There are hundreds of other yorkies out there that need a good home. I am sure I will find another one. Thank you for all of your help and advice. Joy

| I hope you can get your money back. Is it wrong for me to ask who this breeder is? If we all know who not to buy from, maybe we can rule out the bad and only have the good. |

| I got Jewels at 8 weeks and she only had one set of shots. Also my deposit was nonrefundable if I backed out.

| Don't walk ,but run in a different direction from this breeder. You need to know all shots and deworming are up-to-date. You need a health guarantee, even if it's only 72 hours to take puppy to the vet. My concern would be if she feels this way about shots and deworming, will you ever get a refund if the puppy is found to have something seriously wrong with it? Keep the balance of your money and go find another puppy. $350.00, is much easier to come up with than a sickly puppy with lots of vet bills. There may be absolutely nothing wrong with this puppy, but why take the chance, unless you are willing to walk away happy with whatever results happens. Good luck, I know you must be heart broken about having to make this decision. You say, you have become friends with this person? With friends like this, who needs an enemy. I would say she is an acquaintance, not friend.

| HMMM welll you guys already had the poor pup sick and dying before he even got the little thing.. I wanted to ask if your state has a lemon law. i would probably check that out first!!! PLUS>>>>>>>> Ok say she did go ahead and spend the money and give the second shots???? Well you would havetaken the puppy and only been out the set of shots..now you would be out $350. I'm basing this on if the breeder had said OK to the second set of shots. Plus again.... 9 weeks isn't really a due date for second set of shots. Around here they are done at 6-8 weeks depending on size , then again anywhere from 10 -12 weeks depending when you got the first shots. Now about the guarantee... you seem like you KNEW she was offering no guaranteee or additional guarantee if your state has a lemon law so That one is kinda on you . All in all I am saying you have paid the deposit and apparently she has comethrough with what little you all talked about so I don't see your beef with her . WHATEVER is considered PROPER selling procedure with pups... isn't really my point here. My point is she apparently has done nothing that was different then your original arrangement so how can she be the bad guywhen it comes to the final pick up /payment arrangements. JMHO

| I had asked her several times about making an appt for the puppies second set of shots. I told her I didn't mind doing it, but I just needed to know, because I had to make an appt for my other dog, and needed to call. She told me that she would get the second set of shots the day before I pick him up. Then, this morning, she said that he might need to get wormed at the vet, and if he did, she wasn't paying for it since it wasn't her dog anymore. I told her that if he was in her care, she needed to do everything that should be done as far as shots, and anything else. Also, it is her dog until I take delivery and that check is put in her account. Like, what if something happened to him before I got him, would she expect me to pay for it? even though it is in her care. Just my opinion. Yeah, I knew she wasn't giving a health guarantee, and I was a little okay with that, but I figured since I was getting the dog for a good price, that is what I should expect. Since then, other things have occured that made me question getting my puppy from her. Now, I will at least have my 550.00 back and can put that towards a new puppy.

| It also has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not I would pay for the shots. It is all about the manner in which she handled herself when I asked her if she was doing it. I don't mind taking him after I pick him up, but she is the breeder and while he is in her care, she should provide all the care, and not ask me to pay extra. Like I said earlier, I might be totally overreacting. But, this isn't the first time that I have had second thoughts. I am sure she will get on here and tell her side of the story whenever she is on the net again. I just want to say thanks to everyone for listening to me. I am in no way bashing her or saying she is a bad breeder. I want to make that clear. I just don't agree with some of the things that have happened. I just expected something different than she offered. That is all. She is still the greatest person and a sweetheart. I just didn't feel right in my heart about getting this puppy, and I guess today just sealed the deal for me. Thank you again.

Ok Now I'm really confused.... you said you didn't mind because you wanted your other dog to go???? Did this mean YOU were going to do it and then she said NO she will do it and that is why she was only paying for the shot????

| Right, I told her I didn't mind taking him, just needed to know so I could make the appt. She said, no, it is okay, I will take him Friday before you come get him. Then she said, the vet might want to worm him, but I am not going to do it, it is 40.00, and I am not paying that for a dog that is not mine. Yeah, she is holding him for me, cause 1, I don't want to bring him home at 6 weeks, and two, I didn't have all the money until next week. I say, that until the check is cashed, and he is at my house, he is her dog. JMHO

| "HMMM welll you guys already had the poor pup sick and dying before he even got the little thing.. I wanted to ask if your state has a lemon law. i would probably check that out first!!! PLUS>>>>>>>>" I don't think anyone had the dog sick and dying but opinions were asked for and everyone gave Joy theirs. Personally I wouldn't buy from ANY breeder who isn't expecting me to sign a health and spay/neuter contract, for their protection as well as my own. Joy, I do hope you get your money back but in light of how this particular breeder acted and all of the circumstances before I think you have made the right decision. I hope you do go and contact the YTCA breeders on their website and call a few of them. Most are happy to talk with you and helpyou find your dream puppy. Best of luck!! |
