Hi. This post was brought to my attention. So, I have to add my two cents, too.

First, let me start off by saying that Villette is a really sweet person and would never make up lies about anyone.

My husband and I bought a female yorkie six years ago from Betty. Betty wrote on my receipt, "Teacup Yorkie". Well, this 'teacup' yorkie is now 14 pounds. I know breeders can't truly predict the exact adult weight of a yorkie puppy, but most breeders come close and they know what they're breeders are likely to produce if they are repetable. I still have that receipt today.

Gracie has also had many, many problems. As an example, before the age of two, she had two knee surgeries to correct a congenital defect. Any repetitable breeder would not continue breeding breeders who pass bad qualities.

To this day, we are still having to shell out high vet bills due to her bad breeding. As far as what Villette was saying about Betty's dogs being kept outside and shaved down, well, I've been to Betty's house twice and have seen this both times.

Our puppy was also brought home with ear mites and ear infections. Puppies are NOT born with this problem. This problem is born from a lack of care and attention.

As far as fleas go, there is a product called Advantage.

Knowing what I know now about breeders, I wouldn't walk away from Betty's place, I would run.

I'm sorry if this comes across meanly, but it's simply the truth.

Jamie....you don't have a mean bone in your body ...and HUGS to Gracie - I love to think of her as Chanel's cousin.

I know she's been thru so much and you & your husband are the BEST Yorkie mom and dad....

She's a sweet girl and I just wish she didn't have the problems she's had. I hold her breeder responsible for that too. She knows what she's selling. She told us the same things she told you...and Chanel had the SAME problems except for the bad knees. No yorkie should have such bad knees that both had to be operated on before her 2nd birthday....Bless her heart.

Default I Am So Glad I Saw This Post

I was considering getting another puppy and had talked to Betty over the phone only. She sent me an email with a picture of the puppy, which looked precious. When I saw these posts, I immediately told her I'd changed my mind. I had just begun looking around, so I had not even gone to look at the puppy and hadn't wasted her time or mine. But, I could have, had I not have been warned by the wonderful YT members.

Thanks!

Villette ... I had forgotten what a precious little sweetie she was at that age and everything you all went through with her!!! I am glad this mossy old thread got revived!! It never hurts to refresh our memories ... the good and the bad! I am sad for all the babies that have had to endure the pain and suffering of bad breeders but sooo happy when one survives and grows up as beautiful and happy as your munchkins!

It also makes me so thankful all over again that Patrick & I were fortunate enough to find a good breeder like Ava. We have been so blessed to have a healthy baby such as Toto but my heart absolutely breaks each time I hear of "what could have been".

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I had gone to this site when we were looking to buy a puppy. I did not like her attitude when we spoke, I had a million questions that she could not or would not answer. And yes, when looking into the eyes of these little ones they did not have the bright glow in them. We have found a wonderful breeder and have bought 3 from them, they are a joy to have. All of mine live in the house and no cages.. Have you tried the FDA, local police department. If she is a licenced they may be able to revoke it. If you can get a petition going and submit it, animal control can then go in and look around. The sad part is, if they have shelter, food and water then its within the codes.. Good luck, I will sign any petition to stop the cruel treatment of animals.

People are probably tired of seeing my name on this thread but I wanted to say this last thing....

WHEN we post these kinds of REVIEWS on a breeder - it's not to bash the breeder - it's to warn others to look for the signs.

I really do love my Chanel and IF I Could get another just like her - I would...but after learning what GOOD Breeders are....I am 100% positive that the breeders I posted about are NOT. My intention is to help the next person. I get pm's from people asking who Chanel's breeder is & I'm happy to share.... but it comes with a warning when I respond. So always look around and if possible - try to find others that have dealt with the particular breeder you are thinking of using.....

Being NICE on the phone or on a visit doesn't make a breeder a good breeder - they want YOUR MONEY.

Bettyeanne ...youare always SO SWEET and thank you. I get so sad for the little puppies too - they didn't ask to be born and it's up to the breeder or person responsible for them to provide them with the BEST start in life.

It breaks my heart to hear about so many puppies will serious illnesses that can be prevented with simple medical attention. The suffering Chanel went thru was awful to witness ....and what makes it worse is it just lines the pockets of these so called 'breeders'. They actually make money off these sick dogs - the bad breeders never step in to help or offer support and medical bills can run into the hundreds of $$ QUICK.

Default For People Looking at Our Site for Advice on Breeders

Hi - can those who have a breeder they would recommend in Texas post them for the people who are looking for reputable breeders so they know where to go and won't be drawn in by one's that have bad reputations. I know it would be helpful. If we could start with the larger cities, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, & Dallas. I think everyone could get to these cities pretty easily. It would sure save them a lot of heartache in the end.

If someone wants to know the name of the breeder that I got Tatum from in the Houston area, please PM me so we can talk about it.

Default Brushy Creek Kennels

I wish I would have found this post prior to purchasing my Westie. I am looking for any information against this breeder and would like to know (outside the SPCA) what other agencies I can contact to file a complaint.

I purchased a westie, was told to have him vet checked with in 48 hours and told he has a year long warranty against any heredity health defects. I did not have to wait the complete 48 hours, he was sick the next day with an awful dry cough, pasty nose and alot of sneezing. I took him to a vet and was told him may have distemper. I called Brushy Creek back as the vet has suggested. David told me there was no way he had distemper, he was a bit offended and offered for me to see his vets bills. He stated that about three years ago, a "batch" of puppies had this same type illness due to the Bordetella (sp?). I took him to 2 more vets and they had the same consensus and had never heard of this reaction from a vaccine. Many vet bills later, my puppy is now a happy healty puppy. We did contact the breeder and she said to bring him to her and they would make him better (due to the fact that three educated vets could not cure), I guess they have the miracle cure. I left him there one night and picked him up the next day due to the thought sickened me that he had to spend one more night at that place.

When we picked him up, she had about 5 westies in the back of her truck, her truck was covered in feces, hay and flies. It was horrible. She also has a very emanciated Wheaten that she was trying to get better. That wheaten had the same symptoms that my westie had. She said she took her to the vet, but look at the ground when she answered. I have a feeling, that dog had not or has not been to a vet. I did ask to see the parents and kennels and they would not let me see them. I will say that the appearence of their office and house seems to be extremely clean. However, if one can get past it, I too believe it is another story.

Upon researching this kennel, I have found they breed a ridiculous amount of dogs and many people have the same experience and some alot worse than mine. If there is anyone out there with contact information to any governing authority, please let me know.

I am new here to the yorkietalk and I do not own a yorkie but a shih tzu. I currently have an attorney working on getting my money back from that BRUSHY CREEK KENNEL I seen the ad in the houston chronicle for some shih tzu puppies and found their phone number listed I called, set up a time, got directions (very,, very far... 2hr drive) and went out that day they told me they had some pics on the web and I told them to hold one of the females in the pics, they seemed nice and all. When I arrived the place looked really nice (the office that is) they had a basket of the puppies they had available I even brought along my mom (she to was interested in purchasing a pup) when I seen the one they were holding for me she was really cute but her back leg was dragging behind her she couldn't even walk on it they told me that her leg muscle was not developed yet from being in the whelping box, and me being an idiot bought her anyways, there was a pup there that my mom was looking at that had what looked like to be eye ulcers b/c her eyes looked like they where popping out of her head. I felt so sorry for those babies. They told me I have a 1 yr guarantee which at the time I thought was good. The next day the puppy had diaherrea and was very sick she did not even know how to drink water! I practically had to teach her to drink, and when she did she then would vomit it up, this was a sunday and I would of took her to the vet but all were closed, so I waited till monday I said to myself if she is not better I will give the breeders a call, and she was worse, she wouldn't even move. So Dawn met me up half way and she told me that David was out of town (as usual) she told me I could wait until she got the pup feeling better (she said she was going to make an appointment with their vet) or I could pick out another pup that she brought with. When I arrived to bring the pup back I saw she had a small filthy, smelly cat carrier with 3 pups inside she picked them up and I was shocked!! They were covered in feces, there noses were runny, they smelled awful, those poor babies where emaciated, I rfused them and she put the pup I brought back in with those nasty pups, I knew I was never going to see her again (and I was right). That evening I called Dawn and asked if she took the pup to the vet and she told me she couldn't get the appointment until the next day, she said the pup was acting like she was homesick (whatever) anyways a few more days went on and I kept checking on the pup (I was the one calling them, they never called me with any news on the pups condition) finally, on the 4th day she told me she did take it to the vet and the vet said it was in good condition just homesick.. well to make a long story short I believe she never took the pup to the vet because that poor baby died in her care (I guess homesick is contagious and deadly) I now know it must of been parvo cause my other dog was showing those symptoms(but shes ok know) I was told I could not have my money back but another dog I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER DOG FROM THOSE @#$!& I was given the run around for 2 months being promised another pup even from people in Oklahoma and Dallas but was let down time and time again. I have decided to get an attorney and sue those stupid people and their puppymill, I also found out they breed 12-15 diffrent breeds of dogs I contacted the BBB as well and filed a complaint with them, I also posted on RIPOFFREPORT.COM I will make sure THEY WILL GO DOWN!!!!!! I NEED EVERYONES SUPPORT THAT HAVE EXPERIENCES WITH BRUSHY CREEK KENNEL.....I now own a precious, precious shih tzu pup girl that I bought from a lady that owned the parents as her pets and was very pleased with the condition she had the pups and the parents very clean and healthy living environment..All I can say is if you are looking for a puppy AVOID BREEDERS AND KENNELS.. look for individuals that have just pets. Had I known they had so many breeds of dogs there, I would of never bought from them!

Yeah I still feel extremely awful about that I just can't believe they are getting away with this until now I will make sure those bast_ _ ds will pay!
you can go to ripoff report.com and search under brushy creek kennel and theres at least 3 or 4 complaints on there. I have done my research on those idiots! I feel like rescueing all those poor babies and burning their place down, oh you know that nasty lady (Dawn) had the nerve to say that their dog selling paid for all the nice homes and land and office they have there. Can you believe that!

Oh this makes me so mad, woofshepard, I did send you a PM. I too wish I could rescue all of the poor little defenseless puppies from that place. I wish I would have done more research on them prior to purschasing my puppy...but had I done that, that would have been one less puppy rescued from that awful evil place. On the surface they portray themselves as reputable, knowledgable, caring, nice people. What a joke! Now that I am doing research after the fact, I have found that many people have the same situation with these people.
