Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I shared MY experience. You didn't upset me at all. There are others who have also been there and seen what I saw. I was very new to yorkies then - IF I knew then what I know now - I would have turned around and walked away. Her 'Fire' story was sad... but she STATED to me it had just happened and I was looking at her brand new yorkies. Someone I know in Houston bought a yorkie from her and heard the same story 2 YEARS before I bought Chanel. Believe me - her and I compared notes. Her yorkie is now over 6 years old and has had 2 knee surgeries ..weighs over 14 lbs. and has severe allergies... bless her heart. Glad you like her - but seeing as these are your only posts on this site - I have to think you're just a friend of hers coming here to defend her...which is FINE with me - but don't knock what I said - I only stated MY EXPERIENCE when I posted this thread over a year ago.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I will add this - IF I was positive I could get another Chanel - I would. Loving my yorkie does NOT mean I have to love her breeder - I wish I did. IF I'm hanging on her wall - it's the picture WE took. She probably uses it to sell puppies ....because I brought MY camera and my husband took pictures of her and I. Belive me...ONE week after that picture was taken - I was not smiling - I had a very sick puppy on my hands and NO BREEDER to offer me advise....Lucky for us.... Emergency Vets are open 24/7. Her and 'Sandy' were nothing short of rude to both my husband AND me. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Oh..and one more thing - I have never called her a 'demon' but she is unethical. Selling 6 week old puppies is far too young to be letting them go. When I brought Chanel home - she was so tiny - 16 ounces. She is now a healthy whopping 10 lbs plus and I love her to pieces. Please don't confuse my posting about this breeder as a personal vendetta - I shared because she sells a TON of yorkies and once they are sold - don't expect any help. Ethical Breeders would be concerned for the welfare of the puppies. Betty is not. did I mention the FLEAS AND EAR MITES Chanel had ? Well - that was treated too. I would actually THANK her for my baby if she had ever returned a call from me. ok. I'm done. Nice to meet you and good luck. Maybe you can stay around and post on the site ? I'd love to hear more from you.

| ![]() I still wish you the best, and I truly am sorry for the problems you had. Fleas, ticks, ect... I would think all breeders fight that problem. I take my dogs to the vet all the time, but if they get out, they get fleas! Thank God we don't get ticks, those are so nasty! I wish there was a perfect place where all puppies stayed the size they were suppose to, never got sick, and most of all, never died. I have lost a few dogs in my life, and I would take on ticks to have them back. I think most breeders try their best to offer good animals. I think any breeder can have fleas, ticks, and even sick dogs at times without knowing it. If anyone could predict the true size of a dog, then we would all have 5 pounders. If anyone reading this is looking to go buy a puppy, then know going into it that no matter if it's a big breeder or a person that has only her one female with puppies, have your puppy checked by a vet that you know and trust. If you have something wrong and go back to any breeder the next day with a note from your vet stating that this is not a good choice, then I would think any court in this country would back you up on getting your money back (not your heart, I fall in love on site). What happened here I think could have been fixed, but I really don't know. When I bought my dogs I only knew that they had the cutest faces of any dogs I had ever seen. At that point you could have sold me a pile of poop and I wouldn't have know it. My whole heart was set on what it needed, but I did go to the vet the next day and have them checked. I also bought a bad puppy one time, but I took it back the next day to the pet store. It's sad to hear start out stories like this one, but I am glad to know it at least has a somewhat happy ending. You do have your dog and love it everyday. To be honest with you I am not sure if my puppies had fleas, the vet would have taken care of that at that time, and I still have to treat them all the time to this day. Find a Yorkie, take it to the vet, and then take it home and love it with all you have. My girl is getting old and needs lovin all the time, so I will sign off now. Red98Vett, I do hope you the best, and hate to hear the problems you had with your girl. We both went to the same " store " and bought the same thing, but didn't walk away with the same product. That is why I would tell everyone to play it safe with any and everyone, and have your puppies checked even if it comes from someone you trust. Enjoy your Yorkie, and what a pretty one you have! Take Care |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Same to you ...I hope you can stick around a little - this site is great for posting the bad AND the good - I'm happy you had a great experience - Was it 15 years ago you bought your yorkies ? I'd love to see your pictures....I do enjoy meeting other people who did purchase from this breeder but to be honest - you're the 1st one that said something nice....WHICH I'm glad to hear.... and I am just like you - I FELL IN LOVE with Chanel on site. In the 4 years I've had her now I know how a good breeder would respond. |

| ![]() Sorry, just got caught up on this old thread... didn't realize it had come to life again. I just wanted to say that my husband and I personally visited Betty 2 years ago with the intention of buying a little girl she had. We saw her ad in the Houston Chronicle. This was to be my first Yorkie and although I didn't know much about them, what I saw at Betty's place made me want to run away fast. Out in the yard were a LOT of Yorkies - all cut down short - and on the covered porch of her trailer house was a whole bunch more. There were some separate ones in cages too that she called her "teens" and they were for sale also. These dogs looked nothing like any Yorkies in the magazines and books I'd been looking at. They were quite grungy looking. She also had a play pen inside that was really stinky where I guess she kept the puppies at times. I only looked at and held the one girl puppy she had (I think it was about 8 weeks old) and what I saw in her eyes made me really sad. I had to take my husband outside to talk to him and I told him that what I really wanted to do was get this puppy out of this situation but that I was afraid it would be a big mistake. The puppy was stinky and oily and just overall sad-looking. When I told Betty that we had one other puppy to go look at and then we'd decide, of course she tried the "well, it may not be here when you come back" speech but I just couldn't take that puppy without comparing it to the other we wanted to see. We then drove all the way to the other breeder's house - all the way wondering if we were giving up a good puppy. When we pulled up to the other breeder's house, we both just looked at each other and smiled. My husband said "let's tell her we'll take all three she has!". That was just our first impression. SO completely different than our impression (first and last) of Betty and her and her dog's surroundings. Tatum's breeder was so helpful - patiently answering all of our questions and giving us lots of space and time to pick our puppy. At the same time, she had a Cavalier King Spaniel (is that right?) in labor and we even went to peek at the mom and marvel at the whole birthing process. We left there with Tatum knowing that we had definitely made the right decision. After we left, we stopped into a Petsmart to grab a couple things and the first person we ran into asked if I was holding a Yorkie. When she asked who we got her from, she told me that she and her sister also had Yorkies from this breeder. She said unfortunately, one of her sister's had a bad seizure and died shortly after getting her but that this breeder had replaced it with another and neither of them have had any further problems. That kinda scared me to tell you the truth. I had to have faith that this was not a common problem for her litters. We are fortunate to have had Tatum now for two years this month and I have never had a healthier dog. She is about 5 lbs. and very proportionate. She has the sweetest personality and is so well behaved. I do not out-right advertise our breeder's names unless personally asked because in all honesty, not knowing what I know NOW about this breed and about unethical breeders, I probably did not ask her all the right questions and check everything out sufficiently. I knew to ask to see the parents and she did bring them to the house to show me. She had a separate building (like a small barn-type building) next to the house that she had her dogs in. I honestly do not know how many breeding moms she has. I'm satisfied that what we received from her is exactly what we wanted and I hope that she continues to provide such healthy pups. Sorry for the novel-length post but I wanted to share my experience with Betty so that it's not just Villette's opinions here. V, Chanel is just precious and has turned out to be a lovely girl despite the scary times you started out with. You were definitely lucky.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() WOW Thank you Cindy...I DO feel lucky with Chanel...I have a friend I wish had the same luck with her girl from Betty... but she's had a huge amount of medical bills. If I could wish one thing - it would be for HER yorkie to be as healthy as Chanel. That was a perfect description of what I saw too. Back 4 years ago - I relied on my husband's experience in getting a puppy - (he had 3 cocker spaniels before meeting me) ....and we did get one together... BUT since finding the net and yorkie sites - I've come A LONG WAY BABY...from my ignorance of long ago. IF I were to walk into a "Betty" situation again ...I'd turn around and get in my car too....You really described her place to a T. I didn't see the cages on the porch - but I have a feeling she 'fixed' the place up before our visit... and yes ...all the yorkies were shaved down to the skin. I remember that very well because she showed me the so called MOM and who could tell ? they all had no hair....NONE. I really did fall in love with Chanel. I regret nothing ...but I will never refer her to anyone....when people ask me about Chanels Breeder - I'm honest and say expect nothing from her if the puppy becomes sick or has medical problems... God Forbid. That was a good post and thanks for sharing. |
