| Brushy Creek I am relieved that I found this forum. I live in Houston and have been searching for a wheaten terrier. I found an add in the chronical for a female wheaten! I was so excited! I called and they told me they were Brushy Creek Kennels and I could go to wheatencity.com to see a picture of the puppy! I made an appointment to go see the puppy later that evening. Once I got there, she brought the puppy to me. I wanted to see the living conditions, but I didn't get a chance to. I heard a ton of barking going on in the back. I thought from reading the website that they were hobby breeders, raising wheatens at home! I asked for papers on the parents and they said they didn't have any. I got worried. I said I would come back Sat. to get the puppy. Then I found this forum the next day. I couldn't believe what I read! This place appeared to be so nice and clean from the front! I found that they breed at least 12 different types of dogs and they all have the same website with the breed name plugged into the description of the founders history with that breed! I am not purchasing the puppy, but I feel so terrible to leave that precious little girl behind! I talked to an expert in the area and she advised me to NOT buy from them and I would only be supporting what they do. They don't have a good rep, but I don't think enough people know to stay away. They put on a good front being a nice one breed kennel. It's decieving! After watching that one puppy mill that was busted recently in Houston on the news, I feel like now might be the time to take action on these guys. People are aware and concerned right now because it's in the media. Has any progress been made? |

| Action in Houston? I am not a memeber of this forum and don't check here often, but would like to connect with you to find our most about the station that covered these breeders in Houston? I am in Chicago and can try to contact the media with this story, but hopefully we can catch up offline. It's hard for me to check the forum. I hope you understand. My name is Molly and my email is moxymo@hotmail.com. I would love to have you help us out. Thanks. Molly |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | So everyone knows I believe an investigator DID go to Hockley TX to Brushy Creek Kennels and We are starting to put the word out with other people who have been sold or looked at sick puppies and want these people SHUT DOWN !!! I have had further contact with Better at llovers yorkies in Richmond TEXAS pretending to need info about my Chanel - and she ADMITTED to me she sold me a sick puppy ...said she had just had a fire and was going thru a divorce - Well I found out that story had been told since 1999. She and her partner (?) then proceeded to call my house screaming obscenities !!! I was a little shocked but actually laughed it was so ludricris ! This is one lowlife of a breeder and so is Shady Creek Kennels ! |

| Good job, red98vett!!!! Perhaps staying after these people will yield results! My daughter [in AL] wants a Westie and has been searching ... it's so difficult to try to teach her long distance but she has promised me that she won't do anything impulsive! She will make such a good "mom" to her baby when she finds it but in the meantime I am trying desperately to find one for her so she won't be taken in by low life breeders such as these!! She loves Toto with all her heart but readily understands that a Yorkie is not the breed for her family! Keep up the good work!!

| Everytime I read this thread it makes my stomach turn. I nearly bought a puppy from bushy creek (or whatever there name is) and by the grace of God I went with the other breeder and I could not be more greatful! I wish it were easier to find out who the bad breeders are. I asked them a ton of questions and they just had all the right answers. |

| Wow, that's just horrible. I remember calling her when I was looking for my Yorkie because I saw her ad in the mail. I checked her website and saw that she had been breeding for a good amount of years (and at this time, I wasn't an active member of this forum to even know that breeders can be deceitful, horrible people) and when I called, I could hardly hear her over all the barking in the background. And then all of a sudden, she cut off and told her husband to "Shut them up!" and started talking to me so normally and nicely. I would never buy a yorkie from someone that tells their puppies to shutup. That's horrible. We should do something about it. I'm sure with breeding all those breeds, their living conditions are filthy. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I really didn't have a good feeling from driving up to meeting her - and then seeing that poor sick yorkie - I do have to say the yorkie was totally friendly though - despite him/her poor swollen belly and totally messed up teeth...I wanted to scoop it up and take it away - but for &$800.00... couldn't afford it... and who did she think she was kidding ?

| Shady Creek is selling shunt puppies--a womderful lady bought 2 from her and both had it--they got the surgery and are fine now but that's a lot to spend just to turn around and spend it again to get them well again! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | As someone who's been to Hockley and met that awful woman - I am so not surprised that she is selling ill puppies - how sick is that ! I think people like that need to be reported and shut down asap...How very sad for people looking fro a new puppy and have no idea what they're getting into.... I truly hope these posts help SOMEONE avoid Brushy Creek Kennels and www.Lloversyorkies.com Platinum Yorkies - Those pictures of those puppies are so sad - makes you want to hug those poor babies.... #1 and #4 sure looks like the same puppy ! wonder why they did that - it sure has the exact same face and hair - and most puppies have some marking that makes them different from their siblings - and 2 & 3 look pretty close too? hmmmmm.....

| Red98vett, they sure do look the same, this is so sad....I think both of these breeders haven't met their match yet. They are going to come accross a buyer with a mouth like theirs, and I think they will clean up their act. [I think it is pretty sad to have breeders out there like them. She knew those babies were sick when she sold them.....The nerve of some people. How do she sleep at night.

| Trouble w/ Texas Breeder I have had trouble as well. I purchased a male Yorkie from a breeder in Seguin, Texas (Sheila). He ended up being a monorchid (hope that is spelled correctly). When I spoke to another breeder in the area, he told me that rumor had it that the lady had been using a monorchid stud and knew it. She sold me this puppy with breeding rights! I had absolutely no intentions of breeding him after I realized his problem. When I contacted the breeder about the problem she just told me that she did not guarantee anything when it came to breeding. Well, it was not a matter of him not being able to breed (most likely he could have) rather it was a health issue. The undescended testicle could eventually become cancerous. She just told me that she'd never had that problem before and that she could not help me. Unfortunately we had nothing in writing so there was not much I could do. I did sell the puppy last year and told his new owner the whole story- she did not mind that he had this problem. So I am just wanting you all to be aware of this problem. Accoring to my vet, you should be able to feel both testicles by the time the pup is 6 weeks. Some take a little longer to descend but should be descended by the time the pup is 10-12 weeks old. I wish I knew then what I knew now!! |
