| Hi , everyone I am new to this form and just wanted to say hello. I have bought three dogs from Susan at the Stardust kennels and just want to put in here that she has been nothing but honest and fair with me. Joey the dog on her site is one of the dogs I bought and now he lives with my daughter. I was able to finish two of the dogs I bought from her as Champions. Ch. Stardust Desire of SumToi and Ch Stardust Tailor Made both with BOB wins. I think as breeders we all try to do our best and our pets go into pet homes, not every dog can be perfect. My dogs have great legs under them and great bites but I do know that years ago I breed Shih Tzu and 25 years ago that breed had very poor mouths and bites and they were still able to eat!! I am not defending anyone I just wanted every one to know that when I decided to buy a show dog I contacted many breeders and Susan was one that trusted me with her dogs, and for that and for my wonderful dogs I thank her. Debbie Ray , Sum Toi Yorkshire Terriers P. S. Susan does not know how to use a computer so you really need to call her if you want to talk. She is always there to help. |

That is so nice to hear that about Susan. I can tell you that she was very nice to me, and so helpful in picking a pup with a personality that would get along well with my other Yorkie. May I ask you what you think about the situation with Erin's dog, Loki having grade 2 L.P.? I'm not trying to stir up trouble, I'd just like to know what breeders think of a dog of 14 months having L.P. Also, what do you think about a dog with an over-bite where about 1/4 " of the roof the mouth shows? How does this develop? Sheila

| Well this is a interesting breed and the breeders are even more interesting. I bought one puppy from a breeder and did return it beccause of the LP at about 5 months of age and was told that is is common and that if I was going to show this breed I would learn to slip one back in the ring . I do not except this in my breeding dogs, however it may show up on puppies I may have, down the road as it is so common. It can be very expensive to fix and I do not think any pet person wants this expence and the pain their dog goes through. Even one of the very big breeders sold one to a friend of mine for show and breeding later, that were so bad, My only comment to her was, are you really going to breed her?? This breed has it share of problems this is just one of them, however I just say no to them. My vet checks every dog I buy and every puppy I sell, in hopes of doing the best job at this I can. In my grooming shop I see a lot of ugly mouths on dogs that have been sold into pet homes of many different breeds, and you can see them even on people it happens, nothing is perfect and for sure, in this life. As breeders we just hope not to see this very often and to try and stop it if we ever do. At least as a breeder this is my goal. Debra Ray sumtoiyorkies |

I admire the fact that you find L.P. unacceptable in your breeding dogs. Yes, you are right, it is very expensive to repair. One of my Yorkies injured her knee, plus tore the ligament, and had to have surgery. We were very fortunate to have an excellent vet. She runs and plays as if she never injured herself. I agree, it is a problem with the breed, along with bad bites, but hopefully, in the future, it won't be any longer. It sounds to me like you are very careful in your breeding program. Thanks for replying. Sheila
