Thanks! Yeah, I can tell them apart if I look closely. Shy is doing a great job. She does want her breaks, but, she always checks on them. I keep that bed (now her favorite of the three she has) in the walk-in closet with them when I step out for a minute or when it's bed time. That way she has her alone spot. |
Awww!! I LOVE the video! What pretty girls and momma is beautiful too :D Itīs amazing (and I didnt think it would be possible), but since mine were about a week old, I can totally tell them apart too, and we aready call them by their names :D I love it how your husband is full of tats and looking after his baby girls...my husband is the same! (tats and all) lol. Thereīs nothing more adorable than seeing a big, tattooed man (who looks hard and tough) playing like that with some puppys :ghug: Yours are just a week infront of mine so keep those pics and videos coming! :D That way I know what to expect. |

Hahaha! Yeah it's me in the video. Lol! Thank you nonetheless. I always liked bigger dogs but Dash and Shy grew on me. |
Such a good daddy and grand pop . . :) Their adorable, thank you for sharing the video with us. |
Just watched the video and loved it. Thanks for sharing:) Cheers! |
Here's a couple more clips... :) https://plus.google.com/photos/11253...05494774722768 https://plus.google.com/photos/11253...05494774722768 My auto backup uploaded it to my Google Plus account, so I didn't bother with YouTube this time. Enjoy! |
Very cute. Looks like they are all doing well. |
Great photos and videos. Shy is a great little mommy, I love how attentive she is. I hope all the girls have as beautiful a face as Shy. |
They're all great! Today they weighed in at 24oz, 23.7oz, and 24.3oz. They're growing very fast. Shy enjoys her break time while they sleep and stays around me. Her hair is getting long and I want to trim it, but, the "winter" is coming. San Diego doesn't have much for winter, so I'll wait to see what her vet says, next weekend. I've watched two of the girls get out and in of the whelping box. I was going to do away with it, but, they stay in the walk-in closet anyways. Since they keep going back in the box that means they like it. I have a lot of towels and I'm changing them daily, since they're having regular bowel and bladder movements. Shy doesn't stop cleaning up after them though. I'll post some more pics of them soon. I'm also going to start using puppy formula mixed with dry food soaked in it this weekend, to start the transition to eating to normal food. |
You are killing me there so cute!!!! |
Thanks for the update. So glad to hear that they are all going well:) |
Jay loving the updates! What a great job you are doing and of course so is Shy. I love how you talk to them. The tail wag on the girl was seriously cute! |
Sooo, they're all doing great. One girl likes to get out and sleep in Shy's bed by the box. I keep catching her in it. I finally just started letting her stay there, since she can get back in the box if she wants to. Does anyone have any tips on getting the girls to take to the Esbilac (goat's milk) soaked puppy food mash? One seemed to lick at it earlier today, but, the just walked away. I left it in there and while I was playing with them, Dash came under my elbow and ate it lol https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Y...020_140950.jpg |
lol thank you Impish |
Adorable little one, trying to be a big girl. You might want to cover the carpet completely with thick plastic, then either newspapers or puppy training pads, or keep them in kitchen or bathroom or someplace with solid surface (cleanable) floor. Since they are able to roam around, they will potty everywhere. |

I don't really want to put then on wood or tile flooring, because, I want them to be able to walk around without getting cold. I don't mind cleaning up so much. Plus, I rarely get more than a few hundred or so back from deposits anyways lol |

Bye the way, are you keeping any? They sure are cute, and I know you are getting attached. I would be keeping them all :D It has been fun following their progress, and seeing what a good lil momma Shy is. |

I just posted a topic in the "In Memory Of" section and was about to post a question in "General Discussion". Separating any of them will suck. Shy is so attentive to her girls. Any time I go in their area, if she isn't in there, she follows me to check on them. If I'm carrying any of them she cleans them as soon as I put them back. Dash is always curious, but, not nearly as much as Shy. The question I was going to post was this: How do the breeders let the pups go? I really don't want to let any of them go. I don't like separating pets. I know I'm not allowed to keep more than two dogs at my apartment. However, I'm sure I could get away with it. In reality, I know I'll have to give some up. I have a person I know has a fit family to raise one. I've all but gone to he and his wife's house. Either way, I know the family one would go to is solid, good and caring, and reliable. Does anyone have any tips to make the transition easier? |
Oh yeah, I know I'll keep one at least. Don't ask which one though. I actually don't want to try and decide a "favorite". |
One of them licked my nose a few days ago. Probably by accident while looking for a boob lol... but have you ever had a newborn puppy "kiss" your nose?! How can you let that go? |
I have never even had the pleasure of seeing or holding a new born pup, let alone get a kiss from one. The youngest pup I've seen was 8 weeks and was a real kisser. Now that they are into licking, you can get them to eat a little of their softened food by licking it off your finger. |
I have no experience with pups, but if I did I would certainly have a hard time letting go as well. How cute is that - one of them kissing your nose. AWWWWW:):):) All the best making a decision. |
James, are you still giving one pup to your mom? I remember you mentioned that in an early post. That would be fun so you could keep in touch with the pup. So, you are keeping one, and have found a good family for another. It's going to be hard, I know. |
Hello folks. I was able to get them to lick some soft and soaked dry food off my fingers. I warmed some soft food and put on a plate in their area. I had to keep Dash and Shy out or they'd keep trying to eat it. The little girls actually would nibble at it. As far as giving one to my mom, she's moving to Hawaii with my sister. I have been debating on a few people. Right now, I know one guy I work with I've been thinking about. They lost their chiwawa mix about 6 months ago. He and his wife are good dog parents. I may go with them for one of the girls. The longer the girls are with me, the more I don't want to let any of them go though... |
Can we have new video update please? lol I can't stop watching them! |
James, I've been following your thread from day one. I admit, that in the beginning I was concerned. But you have turned out to be such a good, caring, daddy. I am just in awe of how well you have done. The pups and Shy are adorable. I've so enjoyed the pictures and videos, watching them grow. I just wanted to give credit where credit was due. |
