| My Yorkie "BABY" is now 64 days pregnant My baby girl is 64 days prego....should I be concerned? She is whining when she lays down...small whines...and this morning she vomitted up her food half hour after she ate it... She weighed 7 pounds before and now real close to 12 pounds. |

| It sounds like she could be getting close. Have you been taking her temperature? Is she showing any signs of having contractions. Any digging? When the pups are due depends on how many times you bred her and when her eggs were fertilized. I have several females go 65 to 70 days from the first breeding. If you have any doubts about how she is doing then please contact your vet and make him aware of your situation.

| Hi Thanks for the info She was mated April 28th at 7pm and then again April 30th around 5pm. She whines real quietly when laying down, and then this morning I took her temp and it was 98.5 and then few hours later it was 98.7 then 98.9 Im about to check again.... She vomitted up her food this morning she hardly ever does that. I didn't do the xray on her only because it was only going to show how many puppies not anything else. |

| If it was the second breeding that took then she could possibly have a couple more days but most likely she will have the pups within 24 hours. Sometimes the temperature drop indicates pending labor but also it could just mean her blood sugar is low because she has not eaten. I would give her a little corn syrup with water and if she holds that down try to get her to eat a little more food. Just watch her very very close.

| When my girl was in labor, one of the breeders here suggested scrambled eggs. The vet tech swore to me Allie wasn't in labor and told me not to bring her in. I was on the phone with them, watching her tummy contract. She never made a sound-even when pushing. We had an x-ray to know how many puppies because I wanted the peace of mind. She was only pregnant with one and he was big.

So wrong! You do not think it is important to know how many babies are in there??? How do you know when she is finished delivering, besides guessing????? .........an xray shows you how many babies to expect, it shows you the position of the babies, and it shows you the SIZE of the babies....that is how you KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that she can even pass the puppies without them getting stuck in the pelvic ring because they are too big or because they are entering the birth canal sideways. Good luck with your whelping. I hope you have someone with some experience there with you during the whelping. You can be up to your neck in alligators and not even know it...... | |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | And I would also suggest that you take her in after whelping for a POP shot.

| An xray will not guarantee number of puppies at all some could be hiding...doesnt tell me if they are alive or dead etc...my vet even told me yorkies have no problem delivering and the male was only 2.5 pounds she should have a easy labor he was half her size. |

Lol, your vet must not of delivered many yorkie litters because a lot can go wrong as state by Yorkiemom1. The male does not determine the size of the pups, the female does. Most likely your female will do fine but she could have problems even though she is a bigger girl. Just be prepared. Have you delivered pups before? When I deliver pups I help the mom as much and I can and I cut the cords on the pups.

| Thanks for ur advice. I checked her temp again. Its now at 98.3 I suspect it should be anytime now within next 24 hours. Spoke to her vet again and they said most people don't get an xray. And if she crys loud after labor then something is wrong to bring her in asap which I will. they are a 24 hour clinic. I think she will be fine though she is very healthy and weighed 7 pounds before getting prego. |
