| Orphan Puppy Formula What is the best formula for an orphaned puppy? I had some Nutracell-C given to me at the emergency hospital, and it worked well. I went out and bought Esbilac, and Esbilac with goats milk and then read these threads ... What is the best formula, and also the safest? I am 4 days into feeding, and terrified of feeding her the wrong thing as she is doing well right now. I have had luck feeding every 2 hours, using cotton balls for clean up, and have a heating pad for her. I just had to change formulas and I was always told Esbilac was the best. She is VERY special and I need good formula for her. |

| I may just order more Nurturall-C from a Vet supply. Does anyone here have any good or bad comments about that product? |

| Orphan Formula I have used numerous formulas and none are better than the Esbilac Goats Milk. When you make your own formula, you are likely to accidentally mix something too strong or too weak. This way the formula stays the same. I love the Just Born but it is too strong for some smaller puppies and will cause diarrhea. They do gain quicker with the Just Born. I have used 1/2 Just Born and 1/2 Esbilac Goats Milk. Overall I just stay with the Esbilac Goats.

| I prefer the natural formula of mixing equal parts goat's milk with distilled water and adding a little karo syrup. You can add an egg yolk too. You will find canned goat's milk in your grocery store's baking aisle or if it's fresh, in the fridge with the rest of the milk. I've heard bad things about Esbilac and I don't know if the goat's milk formula is better, but personally I just wouldn't risk it.

| Formula & Nutri-Drops I decided to stick with the formula that the Vet gave me beacause it has something added to prevent cataracts, its nutrition content is great, and it says it has colostrom. The only drawback is you have to order it online, which is a nightmare when you really need it. When I switched I had trouble making her gain weight, the Nurtracell formula is nice and thick and she gained weight like magic. I ordered the NurtriDrops due to the rave reviews here and online. My little orphan is doing well with Nurturall-C, heating pad on low, and cotton balls for cleanup. I warm her a blacket in the dryer for feeding along with mini stuffed animals for litter mates. Nurturcell-C info: PUPPY NURTURALLŪ-C MILK REPLACER Contains the amino acid Arginine in its natural protein form. Arginine has been shown to help prevent nutritional cataracts. Contains essential amounts of protein, fat and carbohydrates. Plus vitamins, minerals and amino acids that newborn puppies and kittens need. Contains a nutritional formula which is highly digestible and produces excellent growth rates and weight gain in puppies and kittens. Highly palatable and readily accepted by newborn puppies and kittens Nurturall-C liquid comes in a unique aseptic Tetra PakŪ which keeps unopened product sterile and fresh up to 2 years After opening, Nurturall-C Liquid should be kept in the refrigerator and may be used for up to 4 weeks FORTIFIED WITH COLOSTRUM |
