| If CKC stands for continental kennel club then they mean nothing because they will regester anything some one says is pure as pure. So it very well could be a mix.

| Looks like I'm resurrecting a dead post, but.... I bought 2 yorkies from Misty Irwin. The first one is now 7.5 years old, is quite healthy and weighs 6.4 lbs. She is mostly blonde with some dark color at the base of her back hair. The second puppy I bought will be 4 in September. She is healthy as a horse, but weighs 13 lbs and is still colored just like a puppy, right down to the white spot on her chest. Larger and oddly colored yorkies are not terribly uncommon. I have another yorkie that I got from a friend that weighs 11 lbs, although her coloring is correct, she is just big for a yorkie. Remember that we are buying pets, and I refuse to buy from AKC breeders that destroy puppies that are not "up to standard." Having said all of that, Misty does not meet you when you get a puppy from her, you will meet her husband or a friend. I have a general idea of where she lives and it is in a very nice area. I have spoken with Misty on a couple of occasions about health questions for one of my puppies which we thought had a liver shunt - she did not. Misty was adamant that none of her dogs had ever had that and quickly offered to refund me or replace the puppy - I chose to keep the dog, she now weighs 13 lbs! haha! I'm not sure if she's just a private person or what, but I don't think she runs a puppy mill as I live close to her and I hardly ever see her listing puppies for sale. Anyway, that's my experience with her. |

I don't fully agree that you should only purchase from AKC breeders. There are issues with AKC that I will never be ok with. You have some very valid points, but those things aren't always true. I do not agree with puppy mills or irresponsible breeders, please don't think that's what I'm trying to say. | |
