| really needing you now..... So...the owner of the mama and I had a deep heart to heart tonight. There is sooooo much going on in her life...more than I can even begin to explain. She has completely agreed to NEVER breed again! Made me cry...I feel like that is sooo great! I talked with her about where these pups would go. I offered to sell them myself for 50% of whatever they get....(keep in mind Im payng for vet, food, everything)...BUT, they would be sold at 12 weeks, with a spay/neuter contract with NO breeding rights if I even offered the AKC papers. where do I go next? Plz help me in what decision to make.....Im am in ahhhh right now...did this all rreally happen???

| You have 12 weeks, and after what you have been through, I know you will make the right decision. The hardest part will be saying goodbye to the furbabies when they do go to their forever homes. |

| Just calm down and enjoy... no decisions need to be made tonight! Let the info spend the day in your head and try to get some sleep... you have plenty of time and will be able to make better decisions when you're less excited! Happy for you and the doggies!

Whatever you do , Please make sure Mama is spayed before she leaves you. I would deff do vet checks & home inspections for all of them no matter what you sell them for and if people frown at it then you deff know they were not the rite ones for those little sweeties. | |

| Just wanted to say congrats on finally getting through to her!! I have no idea about how to home them since I have never had a dog have babies in all the years I have had dogs. I would agree with the home visits though, so you can see where they will be living.

| I agree with lillymae in making sure that the momma is spayed before leaving your home. Then you have a choice of offering the pups for sale with a spay & neuter contract (1) Registration applications given when proof of spay & neuter or (2) a large rebate (like $100-$200) offered when proof of spay & neuter is given or (3) keep the puppies until you can spay & neuter yourself. I would definitely give the applications for registration though if the litter is AKC register able. I am forgetting details of your particular circumstance -- there are so many different things going on! If you can register the litter through AKC, I recommend doing so. There are many benefits -- most of all I believe in supporting a worthwhile organization that is doing a good job of public awareness and establishing history of dogs registered with them. They could do a better job in policing the breeders but they are doing quite a bit. If we don't register with them, then we are not supporting their actions. They have to make money somewhere to pay for all of the programs, inspections, record-keeping, shows, etc..... that they sponsor! I try to get everyone I know to register their puppies with AKC if they can. There are no other US registries that I would support or send one cent to! Too many of them are no more than a way to falsely legitimize puppymills!!! Has she really agreed to you taking HALF of all the money from the puppy sales? How much are you really paying for vet & food? I know there is the potential for huge vet bills but if all goes well, it is really not that much after the mating is already done, unless a C-section is needed. I just hope this doesn't backfire if she feels she has been sort of pushed into something after the fact. You know what I mean? I want to repeat a previous caution I made -- any agreement between the two of you should be put into writing! There is just too much potential for legal problems.

| *hugs* to you. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. You could always send one of the little boys here. In all seriousness, you did good by helping one byb realize she was in over her head. I''m not going to lie, I had my doubts, but you proved us wrong. I'm so glad you did!!! Do you know if this lady has more breeding pups at her home? Will she spay and neuter those?

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Congratulations and thank you for changing this breeder's mind. When it comes time to place the pups have potential owners fill out an application similar to what a rescue would use. Call all references listed, especially their vets and I would definitely do a home visit. If any information you've been given doesn't check out to your satisfaction, turn down the applicants. This process may take a little longer to place your pups, but the peace of mind is worth the effort. Good luck!
