Why not take your girl to a quality stud and get a litter if you really want puppies when the time comes? I can put you in touch with a breeder who is fair on price.

smoke....Kimberley, you slayed me with that one! We love making new friends, but don't get on the phone with Kimberly unless you're mobile. LOL! As far as breeding him just to produce one litter of pet quality pups, it's just not a great idea. Once you use him for stud, he will never be the same guy again. He will mark everything possible and lose his tiny mind anytime anyone is in heat within a mile of your house. Fix him, make him the house mascot...and start doing some research with the crew on here if you're really serious about getting into breeding.

I have a question. It seems to me that getting reasonably priced pet quality Yorkies for your nieces is fine, especially if they're neuter or spayed when the time comes. But how much risk is it to the mother considering that (I'm assuming) you haven't bred dogs before? We had Susan and Little Bit spayed because we got a discount from the breeder by promising to do so, so we needed to keep that promise, but MOSTLY because we didn't want the little girls endangered by stray dogs that would hang around while they were in heat and because if there should have been an accident, we've never dealt with small breed puppies and we were worried the worst could happen. I don't want to scare you unnecessarily though. Dogs have puppies all the time and Mom and I are worry warts. Like I said, I think getting pets for your nieces this way is not a bad idea provided it isn't likely to endanger your little girl. But remember, they aren't going to be free puppies, just less expensive than buying them. There are likely to be some fairly considerable expenses, some of them possibly foreseeable. The YT breeders will know how much of a concern these things really are.

I am sure that your little man is a loving friend. I/M/O he is not what I would call breeding quality. I would suggest that you have him neutered. From his pictures I see too many things that are faults- It would be hard to breed him to your female and not pass this on to puppies. Your female would have to be almost perfect according to the standard to make up for what I do not like physically in your little guy.

thanks for replying i know there may be dangers invovled. well i was going to before reading replys. i do have expierance with puppy delivery and i worked at a vets office for a couple years so i know a little. im new to yorkies. these are my first yorkies. a far as costly the only way we can run up a large bill is if theres a problem. i have been saving just in case.just 2 weeks ago my friend was the worry wart and i took control and helped deliver 4 puppies. i also took them to the vet for dew claws and there tails. i would say where i live its not much for your vet visits. i know for 3 puppies tails and dew claws were 18 dollars shots.if everyone is healthy then i estimate about 100 dollars from start to fishish. and yes it will cost me money but im not too worried about cost part of wanting to be responsible is haveing money put aside just in case problems do arise. i have to say my 2 yorkies were not cheap if i can spend that much on them i better be able to come up with money for her care. as for my neices they would never breed they are very resposible more responsible then my own kids. i truthfully would have the puppy spayed or neutered before we delivery the pup. they will have to wait until threre pups are older to make that car ride all the way to north carolina. see i know i can give them a yorkie or 2 and it will cost out of my pocket but the girls have wanted a dog for years cant have one because of my one neices allison has astma a yorkie is perfect for them there mom knows but the girls dont. i know they will be in a good home and im not interested in making money off my yorkies but i did want another one for myself. i think i might try to find a stud instead of using sampson. thanks agian for youe reply

I have seen the pictures and response in regards to your male but I'm just curious about your female. How does she represent the breed?
