Post Top Knotch Yorkies - Susan Morgan

I have read the very upsetting post regarding an ill yorkie pup named Mia who was purchased, I think, from Susan Morgan.

I have a male yorkie who I purchased 5 years ago from Susan based on many recommendations from YorkieTalk.com members. I have had nothing short of a wonderful experience with my yorkie Pyppyn.

He has had no health issues (other than those related to a very unfortunate attack from an unleashed Akita who fractured his ribs and landed him in an emergency veterinary hospital when he was 1 yr. old). He has long since recovered.

I am sad to read of any one's adopted yorkie pup being ill and my sympathies and empathies are heartfelt. i just felt that it is only fair that I relate my experience, which blessedly, was quite different.

We have a breeder "review" forum.

Really? I found it to be quite enlightening and the OP was very credible, IMO. I hope Mia is doing much better.

Here's a previous quote of drboolittle, maybe this will explain a few things. I wonder if this is the vet that signed the release papers on Mia?

This one is telling, too:

Ok Kaymo, I'm not going to get into some kind of pissing contest with you. My first post was responding to someone (not you) who was looking for a yorkie or yorkie-mix in South Jersey. Here I come, trying to do someone a favor and offer up someone I know personally, whose puppies I have seen many times. My second post was responding to you. This does not a "pattern" make. It takes many postings to make a pattern. The word is spelled "veterinarian" not veternarian. You cannot possibly make a blanket statement about ALL breeders ALL over the world that they would not sell to brokers. That's just ridiculous. Have you met all breeders all over the world? Do I take Sue Morgan's word for it that she has seen the puppies parents, and knows the breeders? Yes, since I, unlike you, Suzy Cynical, do not doubt everyone, particularly people I've not even met. I promote Sue's puppies because I believe she is very careful and caring about her pups, not because I get a kick-back from her for doing so. I also know that she does not "make a fortune" from her puppies. It is her job, just like you might actually have a job. It is a crime to make a living at this? No. So get off your high horse and shut up when it comes to something and someone you don't know.

5 posts in 6 years and all of them in defense of a questionable breeder. Things that make you say hmmm...

At the very least, I think that does make a pattern. Not to mention, not very professional of a 'veterinarian'.

Seems like I'm missing a lot. I missed this thread too. Thank you Donald for your sympathy for Mia. I'm glad your pup is ok.

I wish I could have seen what drdumblittle wrote, but it was deleted.

Well that's great for you first time poster defending a questionable breeder, but it seems there are cases of sick pups that come from this breeder. Yes, there are lucky ones who don't get sick pups, but there are unlucky ones too.

It is the buyer's job to research the breeder and form their own opinion, but I personally would not be buying from someone like that. It is the buyer's job to stay informed and do all the research they can. My own research tells me to RUN far away, but others are free to have their own opinions. Caveat emptor.

There are many resources right here on YT, but you can find the information elsewhere as well.

A few things to start with would be:

How to recognize "red flags." The questions you should be asking of your breeder and the types of questions they should be asking you. Knowledge of the breed itself so you can spot marketing lies and things that don't seem quite right, ask for the right medical care, etc. Knowledge of your area's puppy lemon laws so you know what you are entitled too. In addition, familiarity with GOOD health contracts is a must. There are certain elements that should be included and other things that send up signals to get away. And much, much more! There is knowledge abound!

I learned what I know from doing a lot of reading, here on YT, but also books, the internet in general, etc.

Every buyer should prepare themselves if they don't want to get burned. You need to make yourself aware of all the gimmicks of the trade and pick out who you think is a reputable, upstanding breeder. Everyone forms their own conclusions and they are entitled to them, as I said, but everyone should also be sure to educate themselves before making that decision.

Things that I find to be poor qualities in a breeder, others may not find to be a problem and vice versa. For instance, I do not have a problem with perhaps ONE mix being bred as well as one purebred, but others do not like breeders who mix. Some think it is okay to get a pup at 10 weeks, but I do not want my pup to come home before 12. I do not agree with shipping for ANY reason (pick-ups, meet-ups, and drop offs are okay), while others feel differently depending on the circumstances, etc.

Everyone has different conclusions, but the education is a must.

The resources are out there. It is up to the buyer to utilize them. If they don't, then whatever results is their own doing as well. Caveat Emptor.

Animal Smiley 019 Judge Not or be Judged

I have spent several hours read old post from many different threads about Susan Morgan and her daughter. Wow to all of you experts out there that think they know it all! How to find the correct seller, what to ask, how to ask, where to buy. I am so surprised you all don't have your own Kennels or Breeders license. Just because you own a Yorkie does not make you an expert. Or for that matter a judge. I am not friends with Susan nor her daughter or her Vet. I did do all my homework before I went to Susan to but my two dogs, Georgia who did happen to come from Glenda. She spent hours with me answering my list of questions. She gave me all the records that I needed. All of the breeds proper papers came about two weeks later from Glenda along with a card and pictures of my babies Mother and Father, by the way I never asked to have them. I was an owner of a English Bull dog as well, so she sent me a beautiful quilt from The University of Georgia who are The Bulldogs. Just because Glenda was from Georgia. I understand that someone was very hurt because they unfortunately bought a sick pup, but I don't think for a minute if Susan know the puppy was sick she would have sold her a sick puppy just to get rid of her. This is my first time on YT, and from what I can read it will be my last time. To many people judging others.

I absolutely agree with you...My experience with Susan morgan and her pups has bee wonderful. When I bought my Peanut......I got everything and more.....she called for a week or two to make sure how he was doing....Any questions I had she was right there for me with and answer.....I bought a very tiny healthy puppy and am looking to buy another from her at present.............
