| YT 2000 Club Donating Member | YEs very sad. I doubt very much if the original Poster is still reading this thread. but for the few who just might find their way to this thread. Breeding a young Yorkie female who may be 8-11 months old on their first heat, is quite decidely PUTTING your FEMALE at risk for HER LIFE. Breeding without at the minimum the appropriate health checks is a crime against this breed and your future puppy owners. If you don't know what the minimum health checks are, then that is just another indication that you don't know enough to breed Yorkies. Putting a female who you know is in heat, tied up, in the summer heat, with no where to go, to even "try" to escape a male intent on breeding is Cruelty. I pray and hope this particular female is not pregnant, and further more can never get pregnant.

| I'd have her spayed immediately, for several reasons: 1. She's WAY too young/immature to be having babies 2. Who knows what other male dogs got to her? 3. Obviously, you have not done any research about breeding at ALL, otherwise you would not be asking such a question!!!! 4. Anyone that would leave a defenseless little female PUPPY, in heat, tied up outside in the hot hot summer heat, has no business breeding anything. 5. You say that you don't want to risk her life, and that she's your BABY? Tying her up outside IS IS IS IS risking her life, no matter if she's in heat, or not. It only takes a fraction of a SECOND for a larger predator to get to her and kill her. Please take her to the vet and have her spayed

| This thread had me so upset for that little girl. Anyone who "loves" their little "baby" that much would never put their loved one at that much risk. The way I see it, its not different than tying your very young daughter to a tree. Pets rely on their owners to make smart decisions regarding their care and not put them in jeopardy. Some people cannot see beyond themselves to do the honorable thing. |

| Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Ok look whats done is done, yes you shouldnt have left her alone outside especially when she is in heat but you cant change that now. Yes she may well be pregnant and although you were planning on breeding her when she was older with this male.. you cannot know for sure that it WAS this male who mated with her until its too late. As others have stated males can smell a bitch in heat from miles around.. what if a much larger dog mates with her? she will not be able to carry those puppies and this could prove fatal for the puppies and your girl. Take her to the vet and get her x-rayed.. if she IS pregnant I do recommend you spay her because this could well happen again as it sounds as if your a busy lady. I hope your girl is okay and I hope you take the advice given to you here.. its not snooty advice it is GOOD advice! please if you care for your baby listen to what these experienced owners and breeders are telling you. Good luck.

There are tethering laws in this country....yep! against the law. Incompetent is not the question, knowledge is. You are no where ready to breed this female. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-answered.html

| This is just wrong on so many levels. Front yard?? What about a FENCED in back yard?!?! Or Kennel for outside time? Goodness what business do you have breeding if you have 5 kids and so many chores that you cannot take 15 mins out of your day to let your dog out to potty. You obviously don't have enough time to have a litter!! SELFISH!!!! |

| Senior Yorkie Talker | I am not here to scold you, but I did want to share two stories with you. Many years ago, I had a Rotty and she came into heat. We had her in a kennel, on a cement slab, inside a fenced in back yard. There were no other dogs in the neighborhood. She still became pregnant. My best friend's mother had a chihuahua in heat and let her out to go potty. After 15 minutes or so, her dog had not come back. She went to look for her and found her tied with a male german shepherd. Because he was so large, her whole back end was left paralyzed. Hormones will make a dog go crazy and they will run for miles, dig through wood, chain link, and concrete, and find every means possible to get what it is they want. Please have your girl checked and please be more careful with her in the future. YorkieProud Last edited by YorkieProud; 08-05-2010 at 02:02 PM. Reason: I had a brain fart and couldn't spell. |
