| ![]() What some of you are doing are breeding dogs that are not to the standard. Plain and simple. This is a no argument, so I am not sure why this has gone as long as it has. You are trying to change the standard to suit yourself and what your preferences are. The Yorkshire Terrier standard is one that has been in place since 1865 (145 years), as I read in Gordon and Bennett’s book and that this breed was bred for the blue and tan color. In fact since 1865, the color of blue and tan (not white) was such an importance they gave a value to all specifics of the Yorkshire Blue-Tan of which color was given a 25 good blue and 25 for good tan for a total of 50 and a value point for coat only total 25, ears 10, and symmetry like that if Scotch terrier 15 points. I think the Foster’s would be turning over in their graves if they knew what some parti breeders were wanting – to change the standard. I did decided to go back again and re- research the standard point value through the years on the Yorkshire Terrier in reference to the standard and its color (blue/tan; blue& golden/tan) has always been the top importance or one of the highest rated in value. To my understanding trying to include the white to this particular breed would be changing the breed. It would no longer be recognized as its breed. I really feel, as well as many do, that trying to add the color white to the well recognized blue and golden/tan to the Yorkshire terrier standard is not advised for its betterment and protection of this breed we love so much. |

| ![]() On page 18 of Anne Seranne’s book it discusses the Breed Standard as the ”Standard of Perfection.” You “must have a clear mental picture of what is considered the perfect specimen or the ideal.” When I, as many people do, think of the Yorkshire Terrier we visualize the blue and golden/tan color. Therefore to change the color from its standard is not what is best for our breed. I too had never seen a parti till coming on to YT. I was actually quite shocked and thought of it being a mixed breed. To me it just does not look like a yorkie. I have breed off and on for 30 years and never got a tri color puppy or adult. Which makes me very confused how it actual came to be. What some are doing is for example is like someone trying to breed a different with the Golden Retriever. Now there are different types of Retrievers, but they are never included in the same standard, since each is a separate breed. |

| ![]() I then took a look again at Anne’ Seranne’s book and went to page 110 – “Getting a Foot in the Door.” Excellent reading and if everyone would read this and understand what is being said within these few pages one would know the correct manner to go about getting into the breed. As it states, “If you are about to become involved in the purebred dog world, start with superior animals only.” “Beginning with anything less with the idea they will produce better than themselves is foolish indeed.” |

A handspan varies widely from person to person. Is there a more precise analogy that could be used.

| ![]() This bickering like old biddies is making my brain bleed, but I have a question for Elle: Have I not seen you on YT more than once referring puppy buyers to the web site, www.yorkies.com, for a breeder directory and information on specific breeders the owner of that site doesn't like? YTCEHB has an actual process with published rules and regulations and a committee for approving members, so how is that a bad thing in your mind? Does this not sound like a much safer and more reliable resource than a list assembled by one person acting alone?

| ![]() I am very sorry if I gave the impression I am a YTCA member...I have always been a regional Yorkie club member, but am too outspoken for the YTCA. I pissed off the then President 30 yrs ago by calling him on unethical practices I saw with a FEW members who ripped me off (there are bad apples everywhere)...he said I was not a member and no right voice my opinion... later he apologized and said he would sponsor me...but I am a rogue and too hard headed... BUT I support the club fully and have always followed the same code of ethic's and conduct...sorry for any misunderstanding.. |

I've highlighted one of your statements. Non-members are now allowed to voice their complaints; if a member's practices are found to be questionable. However, it must be done in writing, with facts behind the complaint. A full investigation is launched on said member. Keeping in mind the accusation/accuser/formal complaint will be revealed to said member.

| ![]() The regional clubs are under the parent club. YTCA, but I have found freedom to speak freely when I was a member of the Nation's Capital Club and now Goldcoast YTC of SO Florida...I am on the Board of Directors and Treasuer... ..no one got on the wrong side of Johnny and Morris....but please let me say that was in another time and place. Both became friends later in their life... |

No Longer a Member | ![]() Maybe the YTCA does need to change some standards instead of staying close minded. As it stands the Yorkie certainly isn't doing any winning in best in show at Westminster, How long has it been? IMO Because they dont have that look that just pops, The Partis on the other hand do turn heads. |
