People have the right to charge what they want for a dog, no matter the breed. people will scoff at any price, depends on the person.

But we have the choice to pay or not pay what breeders ask. I swore I would never pay a thousand for a dog and now look at me with 3 yorkies..hahaha

LOL I didn't even come close to saying that! But since you brought it up, I see nothing wrong with making a profit of an animal. As long as it is done lovingly and humanely. What i have a problem with is the ones who breed ONLY for profit.

I did a cost analysis on my last litter....factoring, everything, except labor (because how to you calculate labor of love)..............I did make a profit. $00.89.

A profit!!!!!! Way to go Mary. Last year's litter cost me about $1500 after everything was said and done, so a profit of $.89, I would be thrilled with that (and so would my hubby).

Wow! I love the cars you have (my boyfriend has been looking at used Z06's), and the cars you owned. Our cars aren't much (compared to yours lol), but we have been slowly moving up. I really wanted (still do) a Jeep SRT8, but it was too much (payment wise). I have a 2008 Trailblazer SS, and my boyfriend has been working on his '81 Cutlass (has a 350 in it now). I went from a 2002 ZX2 to the TBSS, big change! Although I don't think there was anything stock left on the ZX2 when we sold it.

hehehehe.. I know what you mean. When it comes down to the numbers most reputable, loving breeders don't make much of, if any, profit.

Well I see no problem with a difference of opinions.. We all still adore our yorkies. As well as my other dogs which I love and adore just as much

I don't know if I should really call that a profit. Since the litter the previous year put me in the red by $2,500.00. Yep! almost lost my dam on that one, so it was money well spent.

You can always see my husband start shaking his whenever I'm planning and getting ready for a breeding....and always says well here it goes again.....the meds, the foods, the bedding, the vet trips....always comments, these dogs eat better than I do.....He's a softy though.....when the girls are with whelp....he's in tune with their every need.

You have to break it down year by year and litter by litter, if you looked at how much you had spent over the years, it would just be too painful.
Imagine, if you added all your show costs in there as well. (and I have only been doing this for six years, you longer, I think). But you are right, it is a labor of love (or else we are all just a little bit crazy, maybe a little of each)

Oh dear...if I brought in the costs of showing and I never factor in what my foundation cost me...........eeeks!!!!

I was oh so thrilled about the 89 cents...my husband put a damper on it when he said you know hon, Go-Go's last litter....well we really had to pull ourselves up by our boot straps on that one.

I do believe this forum is called Yorkie talk not cartalk, and the Thread is Parti prices not car prices. The thread was moved to here because what you posted was not about the For Sale thread, and still your posts are about something not pertaining to the thread. You continuously post things that don't pertain to the subject matter.
