I have seen a few breeders doing this, waiting to register a litter.

My husband once bought a male years ago and he was AKC
when we talked to the breeder she said yes he came with AKC and she told him about his line etc. But when we went to get it and paid for the dog she said will you be wanting papers? I was shocked for she her self said they were AKC and to us that comes with the dog. NO she charged him $100. if he wanted the papers. Then we had to turn around and pay for it to be reg.

so in other words she was letting him go $100. cheaper if we didnt want his papers. When I asked the reason for this she said she dont register them if people dont ask.

Were you able to register him? The breeder has to register the litter before a pet owner can register the dog. Many breeders do this so the AKC won't know how many dogs they are truly breeding, or they don't want the dogs DNA tested. It's actually not that expensive to register a whole litter. Anyway, I would never recommend someone buy a dog from a breeder like this, but I think your story is very common.

Yes we was able to register him and her dogs were DNA tested.
