Were you able to register him? The breeder has to register the litter before a pet owner can register the dog. Many breeders do this so the AKC won't know how many dogs they are truly breeding, or they don't want the dogs DNA tested. It's actually not that expensive to register a whole litter. Anyway, I would never recommend someone buy a dog from a breeder like this, but I think your story is very common.
