How to become a AKC or CKC Breeder?

You can't just automatically join; you have to be invited. The goal of the YTCA is to protect the Yorkshire terrier breed. They want to make sure all their members are breeding for the right reasons, and that's is to improve the breed. I suggest you join a local breed club, and go to as many shows as possible and get to know other breeders. Finding someone who is willing mentor you, is the best way to learn about breeding. It's a slow process, but it sounds like a wonderful journey. I believe you have to have at least two YTCA members recommend you, and they must know you and your breeding program for at least 2 years. Going to shows is the best way to learn what really makes a good breeding dog, and it helps you develop an eye; pictures can only do so much.

After becoming a member of AKC you submit an application. You must also have two sponsors who've known you for a minimum of 2 years and at least one must have been in your home.

It takes no expertise to become an AKC breeder..simply breed an AKC male and female, then register the litter online, pay your fee and you are an AKC dog breeder.

True, but not everything you need to know. Anyone can do this - puppy mills, back yard breeders, "Oops" breeders - they all do this.

Please research, research, ask questions, research if you want to be a really GOOD breeder.

True..I was answering a simple question with a simple answer. Anyone can register an AKC litter...that makes them a member.

Are you asking on how to become a member of YTCA or AKC. AKC; breed an AKC litter (both parents being AKC) and whala you're a member. A bit simplistic.....but, as long as you follow their rules and regulations, keep proper records....you're a member.

YTCA is a bit more stringent and drawn out.

Nope, I'll give you a Championship Certificate.

There was one on here awhile back that people were sending in pictures of their pups to have them evaluated for show quality......
