AI is a procedure that requires up close and personal educating. Preferably by someone that is well versed in the procedure. Too many things can go wrong, especially infection to the dam, if one doesn't have an experienced person instructing them. Not easily explained on paper.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | IDK specifically about the Wysong estrus strips but am aware of the Wysong company and have always trusted their products, both human and canine. They make the only kibble I will feed, great supplements and even wonderful human products....they are a good company!

| My vet showed me up close and personal about 6 years ago on a lab he was doing it to...collecting...then how to place in the female.... I was wondering if there are any tricks of the trade...graphic I know but I tried on a male that is not a willing participant..lol..and thought "maybe the vet gets 150.00 bucks for a reason". Just thought maybe I would check on here for another expert. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I know quite a few breedings now doing AI just because its alot easier and not as stressful with the breeding. I personally have not learned yet but I am going to. I have a tiny male Biewer that when he is ready, if he can't reach or require alot of assistance with books, rugs ...etc...and still cant ...then I will AI. |

| I just know watching a vet do the AI to a lab was not bad...but a tiny yorkie? ... my head is swimming.. I ordered the Estrus strips to be sure she is ready, but I am quite sure she is... she is flagging like crazy for 3 days now. Thank you for the input so far. |

My last stud male was great! He was 3 pounds of willing and able. I could pile up towels and blankets and he could get a 7 pounder with no problem. Funny little guy too, would not breed unless I was there. As soon as the towels went on the floor he would get all excited and almost be in a frenzy as soon as I sat down on the floor with the bitch... never needed to AI with him around. I miss him terribly...lost him in surgery(dental) 2 years ago anesthesia overdose I think... |

| I have used the estrus strips once and they worked great! Stated my girl was ready on day 9...thought it was a little early, but bred her that day and 63 days later we had babies AI is pretty easy once your boy is ready for it and if he is willing. I would suggest going to the vet first and learning from them. Everything you use MUST be sterile and used only once and only on one female.

| Well swallowed my pride and my wallet I guess. Appt. at the vet today to do a progesterone test and to hopefully AI her. The vet is willing to show me again..as she said she prefer I do it..LOL..we had a giggle or two..LOL Not so sure I am cut out for the collection part anyway. But it is $110.00 for the first one, and then $75.00 for each additional!! Not counting the progesterone and vaginal slide. So I will do the one time one and she is selling me the collection kit/pipettes if I think I can do it. I am a registered nurse, but this is beyond my scope of practice...wish me luck |

| I hear ya on that one too... I go overboard to be prepared...then forget I have some of the stuff.. Had to bottle feed babies once so I bought a case of Just Born..not cheap I tell ya..just went through the dog cupboards and threw away most of it due to being expired... It is for sure bringing our relationship to the next level!! Not sure which one..mine and the stud dogs...or mine and the vets...or the vet and the stud dogs...lol |
