Yorkie Yakker | Help!!! Im am new to this whole breeding thing. I have a ten month old silky terrier who isnt fixed and who i was planning on getting fixed. Well I think she has started going into heat but im not sure. My male will NOT leave her alone and to me thats a pretty big sign. Anyways i lef ther outside not knowing if she was officialy in heat or not and apparently my male got to her. I dont know if he actually bred with her but I think he might of. If he did this was an accidental breeding. What on earth do I do? How do i tell if she is pregnant?? |

| Since you were planning on getting her fixed then you need to go ahead and get her fixed. Please call you vet and ask him if he prefers to do it now or in a few weeks after she is out of heat. In the meantime you have to keep the male away from her. Good luck. |

Reproduction, The Heat Cycle, Signs of Heat In the mean time...keep her seperated from your male and make that appointment to have her spayed, or him neutered..or both!!

what a confusion... You do not have many options, a pregnancy does not show up until 40 to 45 days after the mating ... What kind of male do you have that possible bred to her?

I see... You do not have many options. If you spay her right away it seems to be your best bet. Check about "friends of animals" in your area, a spay through their program only cost 94.00 If you wait and see... and she comes out pregnant... well... so many possibilities. Not the best thing to breed father to daughter to begin with ... if all goes well... great ! What if you happen to have a singleton and he is huge... do not pass and you need a C-section????? It is sure a messy situation. I guess you should try your best option before the "wait and see" option is your only one dont you think? XOXO

Yorkie Yakker | my vet will charge me 100 dollars for her spay. this was a complete accident i understand the serinious of it and how bad this can be. Ive done m research on c-sections and everything else so i knwo the possibilities. her dad is much smaller than her and her mom had no problems during delivery so everything should go fine. but im not gonna do the wait and see game with this if i can get her spayed i will. but all in all i cant affrord this and in all honesty i cant afford her spay so im gonna do what i have to but if i can avoid the wait and see game im going to. and yes i bred my male with a female and got another female i dont like males they are to much of a hassel with marking territory and stuff |

You need to research and see what is best for you and your dogs. Have you considering selling the boy on a neuter contract so you can use the money to get your girl fixed and everyone will leave a healthy happy life! It may be a harsh solution... maybe not??? Think of all your possibilities. If you keep your female and she delivers or not ... if she did not get preggo... she will mark too. Unspayed females can become territorial and have mood swings sometimes worse than males ! Your vet cost for spay is so low... i am not sure how far we are ... but here a 100.00 is only a vet visit for for shots... well basic puppy shots. I would still call friends of animals and local ASPCA and ask what you options are. You may even find a cheaper way to get both of them fixed and be able to do it rather sooner than later. You still have some things to go after. XOXO

100$ is not that much, I wish my vet did a spay for 100$. Can't you see if you can work out a payment plan or see if you can borrow 100$ from someone ? | |

| 06-01-2009, 12:10 PM I have an 11 week old female silky terrier My question is when do females usually go into their first heat cycle? And how old do they have to be before you can breed them? And can i breed the father with the daughter as long as i know the pedigree? Are you sure this was an accident since you were inquiring about this? And I don't even think your pup is old enough to be bred! Last edited by yorkie_mama22; 01-19-2010 at 01:52 PM. |

| I see we are very far from each other... vet care here is so much more than in your area. well... give it a shot, call these places and see what you find and keep posting it here, maybe start a thread about inexpensive spay neuter in your area? You will get help if you ask for it ! XOXO
