				 | The paperwork is only as good as the breeder. |

| YT 2000 Club Member | nope, doesnt matter to me. I have 3 dogs that are registerable (not sure if that is a word) and I havent sent the paper work in. My dogs are my pets only. If I was too breed or show than yes the paperwork/pedigree of the dog would matter.

				 | Both of my furbutts came with AKC papers, but since I don't intend to breed, do I even need to finish the registration for them?

A dog being registered with AKC does not guarantee that it's a quality dog or that the breeder is reputable. And as JeanieK mentioned, AKC registration does not "guarantee" anything 100%...paperwork can still be falsified. Dont' think that it gives you any kind of gives you a free pass in regards to doing your research first. To me, the importance of AKC registration would depend on if I wanted the dog for stock, show, pet, etc. Don't get me wrong, I definately think that AKC is the best as far as registries go...but I would not go so far as to say 'All AKC dogs are more valuable' than non-AKC dogs. | ||
