Bingo! A dog being registered with AKC does not guarantee that it's a quality dog or that the breeder is reputable. And as JeanieK mentioned, AKC registration does not "guarantee" anything 100%...paperwork can still be falsified. Dont' think that it gives you any kind of gives you a free pass in regards to doing your research first. To me, the importance of AKC registration would depend on if I wanted the dog for stock, show, pet, etc. Don't get me wrong, I definately think that AKC is the best as far as registries go...but I would not go so far as to say 'All AKC dogs are more valuable' than non-AKC dogs.
