I hope that you have a safe and fast whelp. I hope that she goes into labor for you soon. The vet explained to me that if you hover over them too much, they can actually stop their labor. You may want to put her in a dark space and only check on her from time to time. Now when the action starts, you're going to want to be there for that. |
I like to keep mine in a play pen so they can move around and nest, but are somewhat confined and I can look over the edge and see what is happening. Can you tell that the puppies have dropped? |

I keep mine in an xpen so when the time come I can open it up to have easy access to her. I don't like the idea of letting them just roam the house. |

how long? she's had clear goey stuff for a while now |
Ellie had the goo stuff for a couple of days. However, if it is really thick, it could be anytime now. |
Chanel started with the clear more liquidy discharge on friday the 20th, sunday morning she had the more thick thinge with blood mucus and delivered sunday night.. exactly 63 days from first breeding. she also had runny poo saturday night and sunday morning.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
I have one that will vomit before delivering. |
i swear this little DIVA has me on edge...i try leaving her alone or locking her up and no...she will squeal and bark. she wants to be right where i am 24-7...and im sorry, i wont sleep in the closet in her whelping box. lol i'm clueless but i have a feeling she will go when no one expects it she's off and on...but was wagging her nub a minute ago wanting some velveeta.lol |
1 Attachment(s) usually they won't eat when they get close -- but every delivery is different, so that is not a certain sign. Have you been taking her temperature? She can lose a little fluid and sticky stuff as the puppies move down toward the birth canal -- the pressure, you know. I'm posting a picture of my Coco, taken on the day she delivered, but she was not in labor yet. You can see how everything is funneling down towards the birth canal. She had 4 nice sized healthy puppies that evening. |

see and yourgirls "parts' looked swollen. mrs. laynees arent |
Maybe she is still a day or two away, but doing a test run on you. lol If you have a digital thermometer, start taking her temp a couple times a day and record it (use a little lubrication and be gentle). The temp will drop significantly (98.2-98.5, in my experience) and stay there for a short time and then go back up . When I hit anything below 98.5 I know we are no more than 24 hours from delivery. Watching for a drop in temp makes some of us crazy, so we don't always do it. And you can miss it altogether. But personally I prefer to have some guideline, especially if I'm not sure of the date she conceived. Keeping my good wishes going your way -- maybe you will have little turkey day babies! |

look at these pictures...she just had a bath a few days ago and her "parts" look dark and crusty again...what is this? it'swelled a litle but not much |
that picture is very blurry.... could you get another one up? the discharge can be redish brownish, even a little blackish greenish from the puppies' elimination. A clearer picture might help here.... |
