if it were me, I would send someone out for a heating pad now, and I would not leave her alone until she delivers. Good Luck I'll keep watching for news of puppies. |

You might want to clean a pair of needle nose pliars to have ready just in case. That is the only substitute that I can think of. |
A hemostat is preferred but you can use dental floss or string soaked in alcohol to tie off the umbilical cord. Tie this about an inch from puppy's tummy |
when I first started I did not have a heating pad or hemostats, I used an electric blanket that I had I wraped it around half of the whelping box, for the recieving box I used a warm flanel sheet that I warmed up with the hair dryer, also I used sewing thread white the one used to sew buttons, soaked in alcohol to tie the cords about one inch from the baby and used a child's dull scissors to cut it.., and it worked fine.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
and nesting begins...hardcore....and she wont sit still. she followed me to the bathroom and i tried to pet her and she ducked down.i noticed her bottom making movements. so can she contract and not look like shes in pain/make noise? |
Hit the on button on the coffee machine girl you are on for a long night.. sending prayers your way for a fast and safe whelping.. I am going to be up a little more, I have to give Chanel her night meal, and make sure the babies are full and good, so I will be here if you need anything.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
My girl never acted in pain during the whole process. So get the coffee ready looks like a long night. Is this her/ your first litter? |

Best wishes for a safe and quick whelp. Have you had her to the vet to estimate how many puppies she has? |
Dogs do not have pain in a normal birth. Mine sit up and pant and you can see the contractions. Do not let her labor for more than 4 hours without contacting your vet. Also do not allow more than two hours between puppies. Do you know how many she is having? If not, you can feel her stomach to see if you can feel any more in there. Have you written down their on call number? I did not think of thread or dental floss because of my disability. I have no feeling in my fingers so that makes tieing thread on a wiggly puppy next to impossible. I definitely have to have clamps. Good luck. |
Good morning, checking to see if she had the babies last night? hope everything is ok.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
awwwww was hoping to see puppy pics this morning. |
