| ![]() It is curious why the OP would start a thread like this, given her back ground. I don't however, see why anyone needs to start a virtual lynch mob, though. It's clear that the OP operates a pet store. As much as I know that we are all against them, pet stores do seem to be the norm in NYC. There have been many folks come on YT looking for a pet that state just that. I can only hope they aren't operating like a Petland and buying from puppy mills. Obviously, reputable breeders won't sell to pet stores but I don't think anyone that does is automatically the worst of the worst. The OP's 'rescue' does seem to be a rescue, though clearly not a not for profit. It looks like she does both (selling both breeder acquired and rescue dogs) from her retail store. I don't see where she says she's ONLY a rescue so not sure there's any real deception. It may not be ideal in many people's minds, but I'm sure the dogs appreciate having a home, regardless of how it came about. It may well be that I'm missing something here, but I don't see anything to crucify her over. She may well be giving some dogs a second chance and that's a good thing. To be clear, I don't agree with pet stores of any type. I would never place any of my pups that way, as I'm sure the same is true of everyone else here. I just think that maybe things in this case aren't as terrible as are being supposed. I am aware of the 'fake' rescues but I think this might be a case of someone rescuing and retailing in the same place and not some sinister deception. Have whatever opinion you want but no need to make it more than it is.

What was discovered and revealed is this person came on posing as something other than that.....exactly like a newbie looking for a new yorkie......then all of sudden she's selling yorkies, within a matter of a couple of posts.....then looking to stud her dog out.....why the deceptiveness, who knows....maybe just to gain information......but, I for one don't appreciate people attempting to pass themselves off as something they are not. There are too many newbies/greenies that come on here to seriously learn. And as forum members that have a true passion for the yorkie I think it's up to us keep the forum as straight as we can.

| ![]() I also went to the following website that allows people to look at charity organizations to see if they were listed. While they say they are applying for their 501 status the first thing anyone has to do to become non-profit is to get an EIN number which takes all of 10 seconds on the interent and this rescue does not have an EIN number which leads me to believe they haven't started the process of applying for their 501... ![]() If you type in Yorkie Haven Rescue you will see them as an example..you don't have to log in to review. GuideStar nonprofit reports and Forms 990 for donors, grantmakers and businesses

Honestly, I didn't mean to rile anyone up with my post. I just thought that some of the comments went a bit far. From the links posted, I saw someone that operated a pet store that also rescued dogs. Again, I'm no fan of pet stores but I just didn't see deception on her part. I also didn't see that she tried to pass herself off as not-for-profit. It may not be ethical to those involved in rescue but if animals that would be otherwise put down are getting homes, then that's great. As I posted, it is curious to read her prior posts given her background, but I just didn't see enough to demonize her. Perhaps this thread was started to get info since she isn't a breeder. There 'could' be a more innocent reason than some deception. Maybe it's just me, but I try to have a less suspicious nature, especially with such limited info.

http://www.akcchf.org/pdfs/perspecti...ella_canis.pdf You are absolutely right. The incidence is on the uprise my guess because of importing. It is not strictly a venereal disease and you can't assume that a virgin bitch or stud is not infected. It's a cheap test. The cost of missing it is devestating. | |

| ![]() I wanted to clear something up. I am not the owner of Urban Tails. I knew the person and as a favor i posted the add. If a little more "investigation" was done by some people, that might have beena bit more clear. I know this thread is old, but i just wanted to clear this up. \ I have one loving little addition and his name is Taylor. He's almost 2 years old and at that time, i was just asking a question. Didn't even know i was getting bashed on here all that time. ![]()

Here is the pertinent rule: "We do NOT ALLOW any Yorkies for sale if you personally aren't selling them yourself unless approved in advance by us. We have had too many issues and problems of members "selling for their friend, etc." If they want to post a Yorkie for sale, let them create their OWN YorkieTalk account and post the details themselves. We will NOT ALLOW any brokers, puppy mills, agents, or anyone posting Yorkies for sale if they are not in your possession. You MUST have the Yorkie(s) in your possession if you want to post in here unless you have permission in advance." So, I guess the question is -- which rule did you break? Posing as someone you are not? Placing an ad for someone else? I hope you see where confusion might set in.

The sad thing is that when i started looking for a yorkie i came here and it was someone here that sent me to the person that the ad was posted for. Now isn't that something.

| ![]() Because when you posted the add, you portrayed yourself as Lisa. You never made any distinction that you were not posting the add for yourself. The other links are in regards to that person--Lisa, the pet store owner/broker for whom you posted the add. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 11-10-2010 at 05:03 AM. |
