| ![]() Questions: My girl tied almost 2 weeks ago. She has been acting VERY odd these last couple days.... I have a collie dog that has a room by my entrace...my yorkie sits in there ALL the time (which she NEVER does) and gives out little barks. She is spending so much of the day doing that. Anyone have thoughts as to why she would start that now? Also, does the start, middle and end of heat cycle alter their weight? Before she was bred (bleeding stage) she was 5.2 at the vet office. I have a digital scale at home and in the two weeks since breeding she is 4 oz up! What the heck??? |

| ![]() ....in addition to my previous post questions: I just thought the other night that if it's winter and the pups need to go to the vet for anything or around day 3 for docking.....isn't it too cold for them to be out! The only outside they would be for is from vehicle into vet clinic. How do you be sure they are warm enough???? I have two questions above as well....in addition to the one about her acting odd....she's also waking me up at all hours of the night! In all my time of having her she has NEVER gotten up at night...not even as a puppy! |

| ![]() Females always have a change of personality after being in heat. The weigh gain sounds normal. I dock my own puppy's tails at home so I don't have to take mine out in the cold. Some people warm up rice bags to put in with the pups to help keep them warm when they take them out. Really, if you warm up your vehicle before you leave and make sure they are covered well with blankets, I think they should be okay going to the vet when the time comes. |

| ![]() Ok, thanks! I am reading alot of old threads and have come across this "puppy shake" or something. Looks to me like when a puppy isn't breathing then you kinda pumped it down or something. I will youtube it but I was wondering what it is called and how do you determine whether or not the pup needs it? Also, does that motion not rattle their little brains? Does it cause their brains harm? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() you can ask an experience breeder to show you.. or ask your vet to show you the right way, is not dificult but it has to be done right in order not to harm the puppy.. I was very lucky that my mentor had a litter born days before my taffy was due.. but my son was teaching me the right way also, he made me practice and practice..and I really apreciate it now..but nothing like really watching someone with a puppy for you to apreciate the right way.. ![]() |

| ![]() Thanks for the info....I am going to get my vet to demonstrate that to me a few times ![]() Honestly, the waiting to find out if she's "with pups" is killing me. I need to learn some patience, lol. |

| ![]() I've seen that...why don't they use the suction instead...swinging seems to me too harsh like slapping!?

| ![]() Swinging is more of a last resort...when the suction bulbs, rubbing, etc aren't working. It's not something one would use routinely with the birth of each pup. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 09-23-2009 at 10:44 AM. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() yes, is a last resort but is good to learn it, I did not have to use it when Taffy's babies were born but still have it in my head and have a feel of it in case one of my other births don't go as smooth, so is something you want to learn and keep in mind..when everything else fails.. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| ![]() Yeah I think so, and if you can't have someone there with you...a "mid wife" then I suggest at least looking at several different youtube videos so you have some idea.
