Is there such a thing as platinum yorkies?

She also was a rescue/adoption as well but, she came to me after her owner (college student) was disappointed she did not remain a "pocket puppy" size...sheesh!

I think I have one of each, as well. Rily is almost white and silver, while Saydee is still black @ 7 months.

Is there anyway of knowing what color they will turn? I really like the darker coloring especially the "lowlights" around the face coloring... anyway to know which puppy, if any will get that way?

The only way to know for sure is to wait until they are older. Other than that you can only have educated guesses.

ok, well I love all Yorkies no matter what color, so I guess I will just wait for the very right one to come my way and love it always!!!

While the standard reads dark steel blue and tan.....There is no guarantee. It's all based on genetics and pedigree/lines......The best way to guarantee you get a dog with your color preferance is get an older dog, one that is closer to adult hood.

If a pup begins lightening at a very young age....say approximately 3 months...more than likely the pup will be light when it reaches adult hood.

Breeder/exhibitors prefer that pups don't begin their transition in coloring until approximately 10 months in age. But, then we're looking at the change in the gold too. Along with the texture of the coat.

Your Riley looks like my Miracle and her baby Rebel (8.5 months) looks like Saydee but he has a little more white in him.

How Cute !!! I love their color's . I haven't seen one so white, my Miley is very silver. They r all beautiful in my eyes Lol !!!!

My Harley is very light as well. When I brought her home, she already had really light colored, almost white, roots underneath all of her black hair. I do not expect her to get any darker.... I love her coloring though, so for me, she's perfect, standard or not.

Is that Harley in the avatar? She looks perfect to me. When they are talking about platinum, I thought they were talking about the bodies/saddle not the heads. Joey head turned pure white before it turned tan, and his body turned to what they call blue, not a true black, but a color that is a dark steel grey with an almost metallic shine in it, your Haley's body looks like what they call blue too. I've been told that girls often get a little lighter with each heat, but are still considered within standard. Anyway, Harley looks like a great example of a Yorkie to me! The Yorkie standard is a very difficult one to obtain, and it looks like your breeder did a great job!

Your one puppy is a light steel blue....the other is a dark steel blue, both have gold/tan coloring on their heads.

That's what I did. I wanted a puppy with a really dark saddle, which I know wouldn't be standard. I just happen to come across the perfect pet pup but he was 1 year old. I love him to pieces!! I just had this image of my first perfect pup and Kaji was well worth the wait because he not only matched my expectations, he surpassed them!

Yes, thats Harley The pic can be kind of deceiving though ~ it was taken right after she got picked up from the groomer so her hair was nice and straight. However, if you look at her albums, you'll see that she's very light silver, but does have a blue hue to it. Unless I blow dry her, she gets very wavy also. She's much lighter than most of the 'show' yorkies I've seen. But as far as I'm concerned, they don't get much cuter than her I agree that my breeder did an awesome job because Harley is just a doll. I get compliments on her ALL the time.
