While the standard reads dark steel blue and tan.....There is no guarantee. It's all based on genetics and pedigree/lines......The best way to guarantee you get a dog with your color preferance is get an older dog, one that is closer to adult hood.

If a pup begins lightening at a very young age....say approximately 3 months...more than likely the pup will be light when it reaches adult hood.

Breeder/exhibitors prefer that pups don't begin their transition in coloring until approximately 10 months in age. But, then we're looking at the change in the gold too. Along with the texture of the coat.
