| Lose her and also maybe lose the puppies..heartbreak. It takes a strong heart or no heart to breed because if you love your little ones, chances are higher that you will experience more death than in a large breed dog.

| I don't want to lose either, but if the choice be left to me, I'd rather sacrifice the pup over my dam,

| That is one of the heartbreak questions breeders have to answer from time to time...it takes a strong heart to do this. Would you make the same decision if you knew your bitch had to be spayed and could never breed again but the pups were from an incredible male and were your hopes for the ring? It is very much a Sophie's Choice.

| those are the last words I said to my vet when I left my girl with him after my recent situation. I told him to save my baby girl at all costs. The puppies would mean nothing to me if I lost my girl who is one of our fmaily members. People think bad things will never happen to them but one of these days, their number will come up for something like my girl had. |

| You breed long enough you will always encounter something. My girl is a AKC Champion, but my baby first. The Sire also an AKC Champion with 3 Champion get, soon 4. Showing is a sideline and something I love to do, but not so important that I'd sacrifice my girl for a puppy. My dogs mean more to me than that.
