![]() You've made me want to know now. I have a book called something like "The Great British History of The Yorkshire" or something like that. I'll have a look in there and see if it says, I know there is a whole chapter on Ben. I can't look now though because I don't wanna wake Amelia hunting and moving stuff in the room next to her.

| I have a book "The Yorkshire Terrier" by Aileen Markley Martello, 1971. In there is does call Huddersfield Ben the "Father of the Yorkshire". Quoting a small paragraph : In Dec 1869, the great Huddersfield Ben made his first public appearance at a show in Manchester. Ben was bred by Mr Eastwood of Huddersfield and was owned and shown to fame by Mrs Jonas Foster of Bradford. Ben's life was short but productive; he had won over 100 prizes before his untimely death in a road accident at the age of six and a half years." end quote. So if you know what month and year he died, count back and possibly you will have the DOB. Hope this helps. Does anyone else have this book? |
