| Just want a couple more opinions Okay as many of you know that I have the Biewers. I am going to ask for opinions even though I think I have made up my mind on what I am planning to do, but I don't want to make a hasty decision, although I have been pondering on different ones views..... I have one female Biewer Harmony that is 7 months old. She is only weighing 4 pounds. Now, I what I have learned is that she is proably will only gain a few more ounces and will probably get to about 5 pounds if I am lucky... This is not a exceptable weight for me to consider breeding and that is what she was purchased for. The breeder told me to sell her unless I want to continue her in show. I have a few other breeder friends that tell me to hold onto her for a year and a half to see if she does gain additional weight, since this breed is new, not sure of there growth charts and I have been told not to do something I might regret later. This is my feelings on the issue. I think I should have her spay and offer her for sale. I would ever want to endanger her life for my gain, not the person or breeder to do something like that. I also think that she should get into a forever home instead of keeping her to long then try to place her later. I think this would be fairer to her. Her mother whelps out 7 pups, this has been her average on litters. I can not imagine Harmony pregnant with that many at her size. I prefer the female to be 6 to 7 pounds and use a smaller male. 5 1/2 pounds is iffy although that is what Blossom is and is a good whelper. I know it is based on the individual female, but the Biewers do range in sizes and I just don't think I would take that chance. Harmony has her puppy National Championship with the IABCA so she is a fine example of her breed and had she gotten to even at least 5 1/2 pounds with a larger bone structure, then maybe.... but she is petite... What is your opinion????? Like I said I have made up my mind I just need to be resured I guess....

| Sue, I think that you should hold on to her. (You knew that) If she's only 7 months she still has a little time to grow. Like you said their growth rate is still a little iffy on how fast they develope. There's another gal, Irene from Stellar Yorkies who has girls, maybe I can find out how much more weight her girls gained after they reached 7 months. I know that Archie is a boy but he continued to grow after that period. The only thing that I worry about is if they are so fragile that it looks like they might break, than I think they won't put on too much more weight. I know it's hard to make that big decesion, especially when you really have their well being in mind...

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I would continue to show her and wait till she's at least 18 months but closer to 2 years. I know that as years go by, yorkies will start to pack on the weight...JMHO

| Thank gals. I really appreciate your input... She is a beautiful doggie and has a wonderful playful personality. Yes, Theresa we have had some wonderful conversations and have shared back and forth. Thanks again for your opinion, I just want to do what is right for her.... This of course isn't about me. I value your advise.

| I think you are doing what is right by her and that is so selfless and wonderful of you. I think she will be happier in a forever home sooner and not being used for breeding. |

| It is a breed of yorkie that is coming out of Germany. I have attached a picture of the little girl I am concerned about.

| She'll certainly get somewhat larger by a year. I would think breeding would be safe if she was close to 5 lbs. and you use a smaller stud (who has a history of throwing smaller off-spring). She's looks awfully sweet! |

4 1/2 pounds and I knew at 7 - 8 months he would stay that way. I could just tell and I am nowhere near as experienced as you are. He is now a year and hasn't changed a bit. He may gain weight over the years but he is always going to have that delicate bone structure. Well, I don't envy you this decision but I know you will make the right one either way.

| Just for fun I wanted to show you a picture of my skinny boy. I can almost put one hand around him in front of his hips. His fur puffs the shirt out, so he is even smaller than he looks in the picture. Btw, he eats like a horse - thank god he doesn't poop like one.

| I am very patient, which sometimes is not such a good thing. If it were me I would wait it out awhile longer. My one girl didn't fill in at all until she was a year old. Just like everything else, when it comes down to it, go with your gut. Erin, Gus is a cutie! Isn't it freaky how they are only half size under the hair? |

| First I would like to say that I am not a breeder. I think that by the way that you have written your post you really care about Harmony. If you truly think that she will not gain enough weight for you to feel comfortable breeding her, finding her a forever home is a good choice. She is very beautiful, and I am sure whatever you choose to do, will be in her best interest. With her already being 7 months, I do not think she will gain enough for you to feel comfortable in breeding her. Good Luck on such a hard decision!

| Sue, I was thinking overnight and maybe could you write to the breeder and ask her opinion? It's just a thought. Erin, I think that your GusGus and my Archie are brothers, along with Cruiser. But I tell you, when I got Archie he was the runt of the litter and I think that he just was a slow bloomer! He's got the bigger bone structure, but he was like that from the time I got him, but he just kept growing, he's at 8-9lbs now. I think that's why I keep thinking that Harmony might keep growing. Here is Archie at 5 months and now...
