I have one female Biewer Harmony that is 7 months old. She is only weighing 4 pounds. Now, I what I have learned is that she is proably will only gain a few more ounces and will probably get to about 5 pounds if I am lucky... This is not a exceptable weight for me to consider breeding and that is what she was purchased for. The breeder told me to sell her unless I want to continue her in show. I have a few other breeder friends that tell me to hold onto her for a year and a half to see if she does gain additional weight, since this breed is new, not sure of there growth charts and I have been told not to do something I might regret later.

This is my feelings on the issue. I think I should have her spay and offer her for sale. I would ever want to endanger her life for my gain, not the person or breeder to do something like that. I also think that she should get into a forever home instead of keeping her to long then try to place her later. I think this would be fairer to her. Her mother whelps out 7 pups, this has been her average on litters. I can not imagine Harmony pregnant with that many at her size. I prefer the female to be 6 to 7 pounds and use a smaller male. 5 1/2 pounds is iffy although that is what Blossom is and is a good whelper. I know it is based on the individual female, but the Biewers do range in sizes and I just don't think I would take that chance.
Harmony has her puppy National Championship with the IABCA so she is a fine example of her breed and had she gotten to even at least 5 1/2 pounds with a larger bone structure, then maybe.... but she is petite...
What is your opinion????? Like I said I have made up my mind I just need to be resured I guess....
You sound such a beautiful person and I can tell by your posts what a caring person you are and only want the best for your dogs. This is just my opinion and I know nothing about breeding so Im probably in no position to comment but I would do the first look for a forever home now but I could be wrong.guess I look at it from a pet point of view and not a breeder. dianne and prudence
