Need help from more experienced breeder please.... Kallie is on day 59 and she has had some crazy things going on with her temp..Her pattern today has been 99.8, then 100.1, then 97.9 and now 98.8..She is in her xpen where I have her set up to have the puppies but only because I put her there..She would rather be in my lap but I am keeping her confined to protect her...She is not digging or panting but she is laying there on her side..Last time, she started panting and digging and then laid down..Should I expect this delivery to be relatively similiar to the last one? Or could she just start pushing without the digging and panting...My mentor is out of town and unreachable by phone right now so I wasn't sure where else to turn.. I just get really anxious and nervous at the end and I don't want to overlook something...Also, the temp pattern is so weird from what I hear they are supposed to do... Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Most likely she will start the digging and panting like she did before. Most all of my females do that but I have been surprised by a couple that did not follow that pattern. The temperature variations could be due to low blood sugar. I have found that the temperature is often lower in the morning if taken before they eat. I think sometimes when the pups drop the temperature will go down and come back up. I just find that the temperature taking is pretty unpredictable so I don't take it all the time since I am always with them anyway. I hope your momma has a safe whelping.

Thank you..I found last time that the temp thing was unpredictable so I quit checking it but I thought I would give it a chance this time...She is eating normal and is loving the attention she gets from me but no serious signs yet...I do not plan on leaving the house until she has these babies but I kind of drew a blank on what I did last time...lol...

I'm glad you said that, it brings up another question...Do they usually follow the same pattern on when they deliver...Last year she started labor at 9am... I am probably asking stupid questions but I am almost completely brain dead....lol...

Zoe is due with her first litter on the 27th. I can relate to what you're feeling. I worry that Zoe's eating too much and then today, she's hardly eating at all so now I'm worried about that! If there is nothing to worry about.... believe me, I will think of something. I just wanted to wish you some luck and say I can relate!

| I only take their temps of a morning and of an evening. I don't see the need to take it more than that throughout the day. Their temp can change from walking, sleeping, eating, drinking so it can be all over the place if taken more than twice. Unless you just feel uncomfortable lettng her out, I also leave my x-pen door open, so if she wants to go in she can and if not...that's okay too. Best wishes for an easy whelp.

They don't go into labor by any set pattern. Hopefully she will have another day whelp. You better rest up while you can.
