| Has anyone ever had this happen before ? I have 2 female yorkies. My Angel gave birth to 4 puppies 2 weeks ago (Sat). Both of my girls look exactly alike. When I was at work Sat my husband let everybody out for a potty break. When they came back inside my other girl Ceci went into the crate with Angels pups. Hubby did not notice it was Ceci and locked the crate. He called me about 2 hours later saying something was wrong with Ceci. He said she was digging, crying and acting strange. He took her out and checked her to see what was wrong. He called back saying he thought Ceci must of had pups during the night and ate them because she was filled with milk. Needless to say I was freaked out because she was not pregnant that I knew of. When I got home I noticed right away that Ceci was in Angels crate. Now Ceci's nipples are very sore and very very hard around them. I called the vet this morning and he said she needs to come in and get an antibotic. Has anyone every had anything happen like this before? I am going to bring her to the vet first thing tomorrow morning. Does anyone know of anything I can do in the mean time? Betty |

| New One On Me! Wait -- who has the sore nipples? Ceci or Angel? If Ceci, I would guess it was because the puppies had sucked her raw when she had no milk -- ouch! If it is Angel, I would guess they are engorged from not being able to nurse -- again ouch! Hope the puppies did not have to go oto long without the real momma and their food source. Time for ID collars/harnesses so hubby doesn't do that again!

| Sorry. It is Ceci that has the swollen nipples. It is very hard around them and the other nipples have gotten puffy and dropped. We have a vet appoitment in the morning. Ceci is now trying to go back into the crate with the puppies. The puppies did not go hungry. They are fat little piggies. LOL I just feel so bad for Ceci. Betty |

Destiny's mom died shortly after giving birth to her and her sisters. Her older sister stepped in and started producing milk for them.

| I've also had a female who didn't have pups start producing milk and try to "steal" the pups from their true mother. It was terribly cute watching those puppies with two mothers, especially since they were different breeds. The "thief" mom would generally nurse five puppies and the "real" mom would only nurse two. The real mom wasn't nearly as good a mom as the thief mom and I could see she was glad for the help. The thief mom nursed the puppies more than their real mom and helped raise them until they were sold. I would worry about Ceci's swollen, hard nipples though. I'll be curious to hear what the vet has to say about them. Good luck!

| I wonder if Ceci's milk is about to come in then. Especially after spending part of the day with the puppies nursing, she may just go ahead and lactate. Wish I had another female around when my momma dog died. I am sure it would have been better for the pups than bottlefeeding. But you would never know they were deprived -- spoiled little hooligans! They are romping around in the family room, making a mess. Every toy is drug out to the middle of the floor. The basket is empty! LOL -- gotta love these little ones!

| Just got back from the vet. He thinks Ceci had a false pregnancy. He gave her a shot of antibiotic and 10 baytril pills to take for the next 10 days. He said to keep Ceci from trying to nurse Angel's babies if at all possible. |
