I have looked high and low and can not find any unwaxed dental floss for tieing off the cord. What does everyone else use? It's the last thing I need for my whelping kit.

| Did you try a health food store or the health food section in the grocery store? I think that is where I found mine.

We just use the waxed dental floss and have never had any problems with it. Sometimes if you get a eager mom that licks a lot they can lick it off so I always keep a close eye on the puppy's cord the first couple of hours. The secret it is not leave the cord too long. I like to leave about 1/4 inch or slightly more.

Okay, the pups are almost a week old and one of them seems to cry all the time. He is the biggest one and he's gaining weight. The vet just saw them yesterday and said everyone looked fine. If you pick him up and hold him close he stops. Any ideas as to what could be going on.

I had a pup in one of my last litters that had colic really bad. The poor baby just cried and cried. I gave him some mylicon drops (baby gas drops) and I just comforted him as much as I could. After about two days it finally passed. He was really fat too. I hope your baby feels better soon.
