				 | Congratulations on your new babies, I loved reading this whole thread, so exciting to get a play by play update! I am curious about tying off the cords tho, why was that hard to do, are they thick to cut? I thought you just tie them off with dental floss. Anyway, I am thrilled that you had such a good healthy litter, I hope they will all have loving homes! It seems everyone of my homes I have lined up only wants girls. Whats wrong with boys? I think they are so adorable in their little belly bands!

				 | The cords aren't thick at all, maybe I just didn't do things right... Tink would deliver a pup and start cleaning it off like she was supposed to, and she wasn't delivering placentas with every pup, so the pup would be hanging out of her still attached to the placenta and she was trying to chew it to separate it, and couldn't quite reach. So I tried to tie off the umbilical cord with string, but it was hard to get in there to do, I don't know. Maybe next time - if there is a next time we will do better, but all in all so far it has been a great success, and all are healthy and well and yappy and eating! Thankful for that. Mom is okay too - although I posted last night on another thread because I was concerned about all the panting... she is a panter anyhow but not this much, she is not fevered at all and is eating lots and peeing and pooping good too, her pees are finally back to there normal size and color so I believe all these are good signs. I will rest easier in a few weeks I guess! It was and has been so surreal, can't wait to catch up on sleep though... (sounds soooo selfish I know - but its real! the sleeplessness! but its all good not complaining just statin' the facts!!! ) I am so happy! And relieved and and and!!! I could go on and on! I will post pictures in our album with weekly updates! We are off to the vet for the tails and dew claws - another painful but necessary task! |

				 | Well, back from the vets now and all is well! Albeit I got a different person, but she was okay! Puppies are all good - mom is a bit fevered, she had a temp of 40.2 I have a prescription of Clavamox for her. Milk is good - check Belly is good - check check Pups were not weighed though? - Saturday 'no frills' vet visit I guess??? I'll do it myself I guess! I even had to ask them to please check Tink over... grrrrrr! They also told me as long as she is eating well, there is no need for extra's. They told me no on the vanilla ice cream and the yogurts and cottage cheese, etc, etc... but I thin I might still give her a bit of Nutri - cal... and some cheese to treat her... she deserves it! I did have to hand feed her today once, because she does not like to leave her babies at all. She scoots into the bathroom a few times a day to use her puppy pad and is right back in the box with em! She's really a mother hen! Her weight is great too - She is 6 pounds 4 ounces... good for a new momma! I love her so much I was so scared last night when she was panting uncontrollably... we go again on Monday to follow up and make sure her fever is down, but all in all I am wayyyyy more relaxed today! NOW ~ I hope I can carry that feeling through ~ I could be back on-line posting with some other drama or worry!!! I still can't BELIEVE the babies are here! It all happened sooooo fast! |
